How to Save Money at Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Tony is always treated well, and the vet always answers all of my questions. With all of his medical issues, he has received the utmost of care and I am very grateful for your staff and vets for treating him well and with patience, and for basically helping me to keep him alive and with me still.

Updated: since I first posted my little dude has had bloodwork and a dental cleaning and feleuk testing. They do xrays and provide pain meds (things some places do not do which is badddddd.) The overall cost was in the normal range. My cat, like most, is not a fan of the carrier, car, or vet, but every time they bring him in and out he's pretty chill. When we come home he shows no sign of stress, though he's a pretty calm guy. They contacted the next day to check on him even though he didn't need extractions. They also helped me calm down about finding out he was feleuk+ as he's very healthy otherwise. They do a very good job with him and clearly care. Original: This review is based on only my first visit. So, I will update as time passes. I lost my last cat due to severe cancer that was missed by my previous vet due to neglect or ignorance (long story, but at the ER they could feel and see the massive tumor ravaging her.) I decided to adopt someone new and needed a new vet. My guy is tolerant of change more than average as a former stray, but the first vet we attempted still scared him and was very rough and unnecessarily short. I got worried that this would affect him in future visits as my last cat was terrified of vets and the car. PHPH was so nice from start to finish. My cat didn't make a sound or even struggle. The tech and Dr did very well handling and examining him. He obviously wasn't happy about it, what cat loves travel and strangers holding them? But he was way more chill. They seemed very informed and were fast and efficient. I hope that this means good things for care down the line. I've decided that this will be his new vet for now. The front desk staff was also great.

I've been bringing my Border Collie, Yosee, to Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital since she was 3 months young, she's 9-months now and I couldn't be happier with the care she receives. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, and compassionate, and always takes the time to explain everything clearly. Whether it's a routine check-up or a more urgent concern, I know Yosee is in great hands. Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital is well-maintained, and the team genuinely cares about the well-being of their fur babies. Yosee always receives the best care, and it's clear the staff loves what they do. They're all so very patient with Yosee and her Border Collie antics. My only suggestion would be to consider extending the hours, including later evenings and weekends again. It would make scheduling appointments much easier, especially for those of us with busy weekdays. Overall, I'm very pleased with the service and care provided. The team here is truly exceptional, and I highly recommend Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital to anyone looking for a place that treats your pet like family.
