How to Save Money at Queen Village Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Have been taking my dog here since he was a puppy 4 years ago. Up to this point I would have rated this place a five star and have recommended many friends take their animals here. However, that 5 star rating was all due to basic appointments for shots and things that weren’t emergencies or super time sensitive. Since I finally had a bit of an emergency and saw how this place treats those cases my rating has changed to a 1 star since zero isn’t allowed. My dog was not acting normal so I called the office and they said send a video before bringing him in. Once the vet was able to look at the video she called me and told me that she could tell something was wrong and that my dog was in a lot of distress (and potentially pain). I was then told I had. 2 options: come in for an appointment in 7 and a half hours or go to the emergency vet. Instead of waiting 7 and a half hours and potentially have something be really wrong with my dog I went with option 2 and am going to spend 10x the amount of money. The biggest gripe with the whole situation is the last time I had a routine appointment I waited over an hour after the scheduled time because they had a few emergencies come in (although the vet today said today that they don’t have space for walk in emergencies which is extremely concerning) and on their website there’s a nice long piece about how they will fit you in if your dog is having an emergency which is apparently a lie and just on there to make you feel better. So if all you need from your vet is a routine visit then this place will work. But if anything ever goes wrong and you didn’t plan ahead and make an appointment I’d probably look for a different vet, which I will now be doing.

From a pet sitter and dog owner, I really can’t say enough!! I originally switched to QVAH during the pandemic because they were the only vet that allowed an owner in with their pet. As an owner of a difficult rescue, I wasn’t handing over my baby to a stranger and not having free exchange of speech with my vet. Switching vets was the best decision I made and I switched all of my clients animals to them! They have very accommodating appointment times, the entire staff entire Patrick is amazing!! Easy parking in the area. And their prices area on par with other vets. If you’re not happy with your current vet and thinking about switching, don’t think twice about coming to Queen Village Animal Hospital!!!

Queen Village is just the best. I’ve been in the area for many years and I’ve taken three pets there from beginning to end of life. The vets are amazing and so kind and fit you in if you have an emergency. They don’t do unnecessary tests like the big corporate places and the prices are really reasonable. Can’t recommend them highly enough!!

I have been taking my pets here for 3 years and had positive experiences in the past but, my most recent experience was unacceptable. The reception staff was rude while making my appointment yesterday and when I asked about a more affordable medication for my pet, he said no when I could have had the prescription sent in for half the price. I was told there were no techs available to speak to me about splitting a prescription. I have always had a positive interaction with techs and vets there but, will take my pets elsewhere thanks to the dishonest and rude reception.

Absolutely horrible reception staff. Rude, dismissive, and they'll hang up the phone on you mid sentence. I've been taking my pets here for over ten years, but this place has really changed since 2021. They push tests and medicines your pet doesn't need, and often ignore the reason you brought your pet in for in the first place. After the third time this happened and the horribly behaved staff, I will never go back.
