How to Save Money at Art Museum Veterinary Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I hate going to the vet bc me and my cat have such bad anxiety.. it has always felt so judgmental w previous vets ( my cat cries the whole time and I do too but on the inside lol) after seeing the reviews of this place I decided to give it a try and they are seriously the most welcoming vet location I’ve been to!! Everyone was soo understanding and friendly and they really knew how to treat my pet.. really wish I’d come here sooner. Love the staff, they absolutely deserve all the praise

Brought my dog here for the first time, and this is by far the best vet I’ve been to. She has a lot of anxiety especially with the vet, but they were incredibly patient and kind with her, and didn’t rush us through the appointment. They even brought out a towel so she could burrow in between my legs while we waited, just to calm herself down. They listened to my concerns and were very understanding and respectful of them. At the end of the visit, I was given a copy of my dog’s *entire* medical record which is SO helpful to have on hand, and it also gives me a chance to make sure everything I brought up has been charged which is great for my own anxiety lol. I’d honestly recommend this clinic to anyone; I was blown away by their care and am very happy I live close enough to continue care here easily.

I cannot speak highly enough about everyone at art museum vet! The vets, vet techs, and receptionists are all phenomenal. My Remi girl has seen Dr. Coleman, Dr. Hommel, and Dr. Grislier and she adores them all. She gets SO excited we when walk up to the door to see her friends there, no matter how sick she’s feeling. She absolutely knows they really care and that they always make her feel better! The vet techs and receptionists are always willing to answer my many questions as an anxious dog mom. They are super responsive and quick in forwarding any in depth questions or photos to the vets and getting back to me. I trust the expertise of everyone there and have no doubt they have my puppy’s best interest in mind. I’ve been going here for over 3 years and they have always been caring and thorough in their exams and spot on in their treatments - for any illnesses or injuries. Remi and I are so grateful for them! They help to keep my little floof smiling and healthy 😄 and I would highly recommend to anyone in the Philly area!

This is the best vet my dog has been in 13 years. Today was her (Reeses) 1st visit and from the front desk, the techs and the Vet (Dr. Hope) the experience was truly amazing. The office is very clean, the staff is super friendly, they answered all my questions and explained in details. They showed compassion and you can they all love animals. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who want the best care for their pets.

We love our Vet! Art Museum Vet Center is extremely responsive when requesting medication refills. I send an email and the medication is filled and available that day. They have very fair prices and always thoroughly review the cost of any procedure. Our 9 year old dog has seen a variety of providers and techs and they are all wonderful with him. He’s super anxious so they get on the floor with him and give him peanut butter to calm him down. The office and patient rooms are very clean. We moved out of the neighborhood, but still bring our dog here because of the exceptional care and staff!
