How to Save Money at PetVet365 Pet Hospital Pittsburgh/Cranberry

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This was a delightful visit. The staff and the veterinarian were superb!! Very comfortable waiting room. The Dr came in and sat on floor with Duke to help ease his anxiety. There was no rushing to get you out, all of our questions were addressed with care and concern. Plus they texted us next day to check how Duke was doing. Highly recommend PetVet 365 Pet Hospital in Cranberry for a professional, compassionate, and supportive experience for you and your pet. The facility is very clean, bright and cheerful. Do your pet a favor by utilizing this amazing clinic. It is so comforting to know this office exists and is close by.

Had such an amazing visit at the cranberry location! I’ve been needing a new vet since I moved to the area and they blew me away! I received a certificate for a free check up for new clients so decided to give them a try. When I walked in, the set up was amazing! Firstly, we were greeted immediately and warmly by the kind woman at the front desk. That definitely set the tone for the visit. Then we were lead to a beautiful, private room where my cat (James) was allowed to roam around and explore. Even though he was anxious about the car ride he seemed to feel very relaxed and comfortable in the private room, which was designed with cats in mind! The tv played a nice video of birds, which he very much enjoyed, and he liked the treats that were available to him. I was surprised he was comfortable enough to eat treats, as he’s never been that comfortable at a vet appointment before. The set up is definitely designed to keep your pets comfortable. When we started going over everything we had come in for with our lovely tech, she listened intently and sat on the floor, with James. He instantly gravitated towards her, purring up a storm! When we finally saw our vet, she was just as personable, focused, and attentive. She spent time petting James and had a hard time hearing his heart because he wouldn’t stop purring with her. The funniest part was after he received his vaccinations, he was still purring like a motor boat! Wasn’t upset by it at all. Didn’t even flinch! I truly couldn’t have been happier with our visit yesterday, and when I received a text this morning asking how James was doing I immediately knew I had chosen the right clinic to trust with the health of my kitties. I got a text asking how he had been doing since and letting me know what side effects to look out for. I feel very happy to have found PetVet365 and lucky to have one so close to where I live and work!

This place is great! Literally can’t stop talking about how great this place is to all my friends who have pets (and even those who don’t). It is a little more in price than my previous vet, but the value is beyond compare. Every time I’ve been here, I’ve been listened to carefully and with empathy, there’s no waiting in the lobby, you get your own little room, with a couch and Cheerios. I’ve never been rushed. My concerns are always addressed and my dog absolutely loves it here. Most importantly, I switched vets after 6 months and a lot of money spent on my dog because of a horrible, ongoing cough no other vet could figure out. After being recommended here by a friend of a friend, a game plan was made along with a referral and about three weeks later she was cough free and has been for a couple months, and her health is more stable than I’ve ever seen. They know her name, she gets Cheerios, she is one happy camper, which is the complete opposite of any other vet experience we’ve had. I literally have to drive 65 minutes each way to come here, and it’s worth every minute. They are Fear Free Certified, which prior to this I didn’t know was a thing, and they take it seriously. The doctors are both very kind, empathetic, knowledgeable, and love animals. The vet techs are also great. They sit on the floor with your pet, make sure they are comfortable, and are very sweet. Also, if you are able to get the VIP package, it is worth every penny. You have the ability to text after hours, same day visits, lab work, X-rays, so much more. Ok, I’ll stop, but you get it, this place is great!

We got home after a 36-hour trip at 5 am and one of my kittens was obviously sick with UTI symptoms. She was seen shortly after the clinic opened at 9 am. The cost is there, but you are definitely getting your money's worth. We didn't wait in a lobby, but were ushered into a spacious, quiet exam room designed for cats specifically. The tech and the doctor sat on the floor to examine her, which put her more at ease than an exam table. They are Fear Free certified, and it shows. I called Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend, they saw me two hours later. They followed up next day with a personalized text message. Very pleased with this urgent care, would recommend!

So thankful to have found Dr. Shifflet and PetVet 365. Puga had an upset belly after we moved into a new house, and I wasn’t sure what to do for her, especially when it was still in full gear on a Sunday morning when everything else was closed. Everyone was so kind and gentle. There are private rooms with cozy furniture and relaxing videos on tv. The techs and Dr. Shifflet got on the ground to examine Puga. They were so sweet with her, especially when she was covered in poop and trying to hide under the couch 😅 Even for a Sunday visit, it was also super affordable. We loved our old vet, but with just moving and the great experience we had, I think we found a new place to go.
