How to Save Money at The Lehigh Valley Humane Society and Vet Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

October 28th 2024 came here to adopt a cat. We got one with beautiful blue 💙 Eyes. he has all his shots , He has been spaded. He is definitely a mouser. He is friendly and purrs a lot and he loves Cat toys. We paid an adoption fee, plus $20.00 for a reusable plastic cat carrier to take him home. If you are looking for a Cat or kitten perhaps a Dog. This is the place to go . Look on their website for an adoption form to fill out. After go to this place sign into the book and start walking though different rooms until you find the cat that makes you happy. In each room you will see a book that has information on each animal within the room. My advice once you see a cat you like look into the book to see if it's pending on adoption. This place also accepts donations . Free parking lot available. Very clean and caring shelter for animals. Good luck. Look for hour of operation on the website.

I volunteered there today. What a great group of people who qork and volunteer their time. My group walked dogs. There are so many wonderful dogs that need homes. Cats too. Before you buy from a store go see if one of these sweet dogs would fit your lifestyle.

Very nice place with good people. It is clean and the animals look healthy, clean and with a big space in the kennel. SOME of the staff were friendly and 2 were kind of rude or having a bad day. I recommend you to adopt from this place. Also donate if you can.

I’ve been using the vet clinic now for over 2 years for vaccinations and my dog’s amputation surgery and I always have had a great experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful even though they seem like their work never stops and they are constantly busy with patients and phone calls. They are prompt to return my call any time I’ve called as well. Today my family and I got to experience the shelter side and we were also impressed. Both my daughter and I commented on how it seems like the staff actually cares where they place their animals and they don’t want them going to homes that won’t be a good fit. The main man who helped us with the meet and greets was extremely knowledgeable on dog behaviors and manners and the environments he would like to see the dogs in. You could really tell he cared about what he was doing and the animals involved. Overall it was a great experience and we walked away with a new family member that everyone in the house got to meet beforehand, including her new dog sister and brother.

Ok so my friend also posted a review but I wanted to tell my side aswell. To start off I have really bad anxiety and stress to the point where if it gets bad enough I will have a seizure its rare but has happened. My doctor recommended to get a puppy as a emotional support dog to help me relieve my stress and to have my own little best friend. So I went to somewhere I trusted to get an animal from which was LVHS. When I got there I met my first puppy I fell in love with. He was perfect and I fell head over heels in love with him. I said I wanted to move on to adopt him and they put in that he was adopted by my Fiancee and I and we left. 2 days later I get a call saying they cat tested him and he failed. Also yes I do have cats I have 4 of them. I adopted 5 but one of them ended up moving with my friend since the cat obviously made more of a connection with her and I never wanted to split that up. So now I have my four cats and thats it. I went back to the Humane society and I understood what happened and I kept looking meanwhile my friend found a puppy he wanted and they gave his puppy away aswell and said its because my original dog wasnt a good fit which makes 0 sense. Anyways while looking for a new puppy I was pulled aside by one of the employees and was publicly humiliated by them and them saying to me that I didnt think this through with the cats and I was in other terms being "irresponsible" which really hurt... Well I found this other puppy and fell even more in love with this one than I did the others and went to adopt the pup. Well I went down to show my Fiancee the new furbaby and I get told by this really rude employee that im not allowed to see the puppy without a specialist there as if I would do something WHICH I WOULD NEVER. I left the place and broke down in my car because now this is the 3rd time they have humiliated me for nothing. I really don't understand anymore I was just trying to find my best friend and I ended up breaking down and having several severe panic attacks from this situation. I just wish the humane society could do better... especially with the pups because this is ridiculous and let me make something clear I WOULD NEVER HARM AN ANIMAL EVER THAT IS A HORRIBLE THING TO DO AND THE THOUGHT THAT THEY ARE PUSHING THAT ON ME SOMEONE WHO WAS AN AVID SUPPORTER HURTS. Please do better..
