How to Save Money at Willowbrook Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Aways takes good care of our furry friends, highly recommend. Have had a couple urgent stuff happen and they are usually able to fit us in within a couple days, or refer us somewhere else They do a fantastic job of bundling stuff to save money too. Dog broke his tooth - they offered to clean the others while he was under and trim his nails. Dog got sick from another dog - they did prompt testing / diagnosis and gave a prescription to help him recover. Dog came in for an exam and they offered to do an expression. All stuff that saved us tons of time off work and money. They also do a great job of explaining everything and answering questions. Usually my dog isn’t too freaked out about them so he must trust them to do good work too :)

Took my cat here on 8/4/23 ( Friday ) for the FVRCP shot, bi-annual wellness exam and ova & parasites test and it was a disappointing experience! The vet wanted to give my cat a rabies shot as well then I was overcharged like a first timer when I had told the young lady upfront we have been there before. Also was supposed to get a call the following Monday with the results for the Ova & Parasites test and never did. Had to call myself a week later for the results. The first time I went there, everything was great… now it was just the opposite for me. But I am glad some people are having a good experience according to some recent reviews, just wasn’t the case for me. Will not be returning!

I brought my elderly pup to Willowbrook for the first time last week and I was very happy with the service that was provided. I was able to get an appointment quickly when I called a week or so before, I wasn't kept waiting for the doctor when I arrived, and the care was extraordinary. Dr. Conning was knowledgable, straight forward, and explained diagnosis and treatment options fully and so I could understand what to expect. I trust her with my pup's care in his later life stage.

I am very happy with my dog's care received at Willowbrook Veterinary Hospital. My partner and I have been going to Willowbrook ever since we got our corgi, Chance, as a puppy, and the Dr.'s and staff have always provided exceptional care for our fur baby! Our dog can be challenging at times needing immediate care and Willowbrook has always been there to care for our dog, we know our dog is in good hands whenever we take him here. The Drs also call after appointments for a follow-up with how our dog is doing and you can tell that Willowbrook truly cares for their pets that come in. Compassionate and friendly staff, I 100% highly recommend Willowbrook Veterinary Hospital to anyone who is needing a vet to care for their fur babies!

We have been taking our three (very high maintenance) animals to Dr. Dennis Leon for about 4 years. Dr. Leon goes above and beyond for us and our pets every time we bring them in. Not only is he a skilled doctor, he takes the time to explain everything in detail so we understand what is going on. The staff at Willowbrook (and Viva) are skilled, kind, and professional as well. Every time I drop my Basset Hound off for yet another surgery, I know she’s in good hands. We are so grateful for Dr. Leon, his attention to detail, his positive attitude, and just being an all around awesome vet. We are lucky to have him, and cannot recommend him enough!
