How to Save Money at North Beaverton Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have a 4 year old German Shepard named King that unexpectedly got a rash under his right, front leg. I noticed the rash in the afternoon and called his primary vet to try and get him in as soon as possible. With it being such a late notice, I could not get anyone to see him that day, unless it was a 24 hr pet hospital with a 4-6 hour wait. I was recommended the North Beaverton Pet Hospital by the Tanasbourne Pet Hospital. I was not only able to get King in within the hour, but the first hospital visit/check up was complementary. Honestly, where can you find a more flexible and accommodating facility? I will tell you -- no where. They are open Monday-Sunday and as late at 6:30. That is unheard of at most veterinaries. Hannah let me know that they could get King in almost immediately, Jacie helped with his check up and made King comfortable, and Dr. Barbara confirmed it was just a rash and all he needed was a spray to heal the area. The team we saw yesterday was spectacular! Hannah also called the next morning to check up on King, which was so sweet. I cannot give a greater than a 5-stars on Google reviews, but if I could, I would give this place a 10-stars!

Took my dog in for urgent care services on a Sunday morning because she was in a lot of pain and our normal vet was closed. They took good care of her and worked her in even though I showed up unannounced when they opened in the morning. They successfully treated a painful draining abcess. Also identified some chronic conditions we were not aware of. I felt they gave great care. When I need reassurances during her healing they got her in quickly. She has now fully recovered! I would definitely bring her back here! Rates were also pretty good for urgent services compared to others in the area.

If I could give them 10 stars I would. Last year I ended up with a puppy that I didn't expect and I was worried about his health and the health of my other dog. I got a same day appointment with the North Beaverton team and they welcomed both pups with open arms. They were patient and clear with their explanations and so patient with me when I could call 3 times a day with questions. Before I moved away I had to bring the pup in to say goodbye!

Called our regular vet about our pets eye boogers, he told us they didn't have any openings and to try these guys for an emergency. I called them at 8 am and had an appointment at 10 the same day. The vet techs are chatty and filled with helpful advice, and the vet we had herself was very factual and explained everything we had to do very clearly. We got the meds and headed home. The whole thing was done in about an hour. We were amazed. This is our main vet now. Cannot recommend enough.

We had an emergency with our little mini poodle Jerry. We were in Tillamook visiting family but no vet could take us. We called North Beaverton Pet Hospital and they were so friendly and got us in for an appointment within two hours. The service was outstanding and all staff were so caring and attentive. Jerry received a full treatment for his medical issue and we left feeling so happy that our dog was much better! This morning we received a call from the vet assistant to check on how Jerry was doing. Amazing! We ate so grateful to the entire team! Thank you all 🐶
