How to Save Money at Heartfelt Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I've been taking my dogs here for 3 years now. Most of that was during the pandemic and STILL their Service was amazing. My dogs love going there and they take such good care of them. They make it easy to take the best care of your pets.

We’ve been patients of Dr.Martzall and the staff since for around six years. They’ve seen two of my dogs through to the end of their lives. We have a new puppy coming (along with three other animals)- can’t thank everyone here enough. We know our family is always in good hands here.

My daughter takes her pups here. Has a monthly insurance type subscription so most of the cost of her visits are covered. I’ve taken one her her dogs in one time. Good care and thoughtful, intelligent caregivers! We had an emergency with one dog and they got us in 3 times in one week and also great communication and follow up throughout this incident. Hugs to all of them!!!! Happy pups!!! Thank you Heartfelt!

I can not say enough good things about Dr. Zuver and heartfelt vet. I transferred my dog Crusher there to follow Dr.Zuver for his diabetic care. I have since lost my sweet boy. But he was so well taken care of from the Dr until the end. Now my new puppy goes there and it’s so wonderful to have a vet that cares and actually has time to REALLY KNOW your pets and you! I love the plans that they offer and I always receive great communication.

The TL/DR version: The team at Heartfelt is nothing short of wonderful and I cannot recommend them more. My first experience here was years ago for my dog's end of life. It was her first and last visit at the clinic and everyone was so kind, patient and understanding in what was one of the worst moments of my life. My pup was not the easiest to deal with (vet anxiety/agression, rescue) and Dr. Sullivan and her team had to get creative with how they provided care. I am eternally grateful to them for how they handled the quite challenging situation with so much compassion. Happier times these days as Dr. Sullivan is now my dog, Francine's primary veterinarian. They have been so amazing with their care for her that not only does she not have vet anxiety, she is legitimately excited when we get there. Because Covid, I have never actually been able to be present for her exams, but she goes in with a wagging tail and leaves with a wagging tail every time. Dr. Sullivan takes the time to answer as many questions as I have and nothing ever feels rushed. I have many other candid stories of how great the care that my dog has received from this clinic has been, including one in which we received a quote for over $2000 from another clinic (they were closer, regret ever going anywhere else) of unnecessary testing and after taking her back to Heartfelt for a second opinion, we only ended up paying $200ish and felt more than satisfied with that care plan. BUT this is getting really long... I've included a photo of my dog, Francine, for the cuteness factor. She's a happy, healthy girl and we have Heartfelt to thank for that!
