How to Save Money at Morgan Veterinary Hospital, PC
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We are new to Coos Bay and didn't have a regular vet for our cat when she became I'll. We called vets in the area and no one would take her because they weren't taking new patients or emergencies !?!? Then we called Morgan and what a relief, they said they could get her in first thing in the morning! They were very kind, knowledgeable and understanding. We were able to take her home at the end of the day with instructions for further care. Would definitely go to them again! Are they expensive, oh hell yeah, but they were the only ones that would see my sick cat and that is priceless!!!!

Did not even address my pets Hyperesthesia. Decided to treat her for epilepsy. Then wanted to do a bunch of other very expensive things. Seems to be more about how much money they can get out of you and not treating your animal. Prescribed a medication...took a month to get it due to their negligence. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Am going to find a different veterinarian!

We are on a months-long trip traveling down the PNW coast, and our dog tore her nail on a hike near Florence OR. The injury needed veterinary care (the tear extended far up into the quick) so we started calling vets in the immediate area but none were able to fit us in. We started looking further south down the coast since our travel plans had us moving in that direction anyway. After many calls to vet offices, Morgan Veterinary Hospital listened to our concerns and even asked us to send a picture of the injury so they could offer advice. We really appreciate this kindness. After sending the image, the office called us back to chat about ways to clean and manage the injury on our own until we could get our dog to a vet. They did this without any promise that we would get our dog into their office. We set up a walk-in appointment for the following morning. The staff was very kind and Dr. Maddox was great with my nervous dog and laid out a clear plan to treat the injury. Her recommendations were consistent with those that we saw online while we were researching treatment for this type of injury. The only criticism, which applies to every vet that we called, is the high office visit charge for walk-in appointments, which are considered urgent care treatment. Rather than their regular $62 office fee we paid $149 which felt awfully high since we were there during normal office hours. Like I said, this is an unfortunate situation that you will face at most vets if you are not able to make an appointment ahead of time. The cheapest walk-in appointment charge that we found was $110, but this would have taken us into Eugene which was out of our path of travel. Even with the elevated walk-in fee we were very happy with the level of care, patience and compassion that Dr. Maddox and her team showed us and our dog.

We have been with them for a year now. Great people, great service, very knowledgeable and helpful! We had a recent moving situation that upset our dog greatly and they jumped in immediately to help! He is doing much better now due to the care and kindness that he is being shown. I don't know what I would do without them during this few weeks of stress and change! He also got all the tests he needs for the next little bit so we know he is ok.

Very happy with the new Morgan Veterinary Clinic in Coos Bay, Oregon. They have up to date equipment and a friendly and knowledgeable, adequate staff. No long wait unlike some places with not enough staff. A separate exam room for cats and dogs takes the stress out of being seen by the doctor. The pricing is reasonable too. They are my new veterinarians.
