How to Save Money at Canyon Hill Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

Incredible service! We've been bringing our sassy cat to them for the past year, and their service is consistently outstanding. The staff is genuinely kind and attentive. Tania, the receptionist, always has a warm smile and a positive attitude. Alex, one of the vet techs whom I usually see, is incredibly helpful and compassionate. Dr. Ang is both professional and kind, making each visit a positive experience. Thank you for always taking such great care of our fur baby! We are confident she is in excellent hands.

We have been bringing our Akita, Loki, to Canyon hill since we got him as a puppy. Dr. Ang, Alex and Martha have been there from day 1 ensuring Loki got nothing but the best care. They are patient and have always made us feel comfortable. Loki is quite the handful and their care for him makes him seem sweet and easy. We appreciate the entire team at Canyon hill and couldn’t be happier that we chose them to be primary care for our dog.

Just Got Back From My First Visit To The Canyon Hill Animal Hospital. This Was For The First Check Up For My Two 3 1/2 Month Old Kittens Who Are So Cute That Literally Their Whole Staff Come In Turns To Check Them Out. The Clinic Staff Right From Tania Who Is So So Pleasant To Deal With At The Reception, To Martha, The Clinic Manager, Who Appears To Be Very Hands On, To Alex The Very Caring And Friendly Veterinary Tech To Dr. Anthony Ang, The Veterinarian Who Was To The Point And Quickly Arrived At A Treatment Plan. The Whole Team Works Very Well Together And Their Love And Care For My Gorgeous Kittens Was Obvious And Palpable. My Grown Up Children Who Have Cats Strongly Recommended This Vet And His Clinical Team. My First Impression Has Been A Very Good One. I Always Make Sure That All My Pets Are Insured Because Great Care Costs $$$

I want to thank Dr. Ang and the entire team for taking such good care of our Dog Limber! We've taken Limber to Dr. Ang since he was a little puppy and sad to see him leave us today but the amount of love and compassion my husband and I felt today because of this team made this unbearable moment a little more comfortable for us. Thank you all for everything you've done to take care of our little Limber throughout the years ❤️

Just avoid. I recently moved from Vaughan to Richmond Hill and since the distance from my house to the previous vet is a bit far I decided to give this clinic a try and I’m never ever going to this place again. Their prices are the highest of all the vets I’ve been to in Richmond Hill and Vaughan. $350 for annual blood work last time I did my dogs blood panel and check up came to $221 at a hospital in Vaughan less than 6 months ago. Paid $150 for check up the doctor could not even handle the dog without my help and checked absolutely nothing I don’t think he even cares to check. At the previous clinic I used to take my dog to the doctor and staff would take my dog and take care of everything themselves unlike here. The doctor was also supposed to administer the Bordetella vaccine since he couldn’t the dog he opted for the mouth version of the vaccine and he couldn’t even do that half of the vaccine came out of my dogs mouth. He asked for his assistant (who totally lacked interest in working with animals) and me to hold my dog and he still couldn’t do it. Total lack of competence. If I could give zero I would.
