How to Save Money at Casselman Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

I’ve been bringing my dog here for about a year for vaccinations and spaying. The staff is friendly, and prices are fair. However, after our dog had a seizure, we were charged $50 to fax a prescription, though picking it up was free. Since we live in Ottawa, driving there for a piece of paper doesn’t make sense. This fee was never mentioned earlier, and it feels like they’re prioritizing profit over convenience. It’s disappointing after previous good experiences.

Did a great job with my cat‘s neutering, but when i went back for his booster shots, i expressed concern over my cat‘s mouth health. He seemed to have inflammation near his tongue, and yellow stuff oozing. The vet looked for barely a few minutes, said he had perfect mouth health, and not to worry about it. It‘s been a month since, and the spot in his mouth got worse. I scheduled an appointment at the vet hospital in alexandria and they told me he has a granuloma and he‘ll need a months worth of steroids at the least, and a shot of antibiotics. However there’s a possibility he’ll have to be on steroids for life. The vet who didn‘t want to take a few minutes to look at my cat caused him discomfort for a month. To add onto that, while checking his bum, the vet held my cat solely by his tail, and my cat was clawing at the counter to escape, barely moving an inch. Not the vet assistant, but the vet himself. There was also a bump on his arm, and the vet barely tried locating it (even after i pointed exactly where and guided his finger), and chopped it up to „oh, it must just be a cut“. A whole spherical bump means a cut?? Okay. I was appalled at the treatment my cat got here and i am never EVER returning. I do not recommend.

We were recommended this vet clinic by family and friends but we will never bring our dog back to this place. The staff was very unprofessional. The doctor was very unprofessional and seemed dazed and out of it. He said he wanted to do a heart-worm test as part of a routine yearly check up which required a small amount of blood withdrawal. This is where it got pretty bad. He kept trying to do it one handed and was missing over and over again and even dropped the needle on my husband who was holding our very distressed dog. Then the vet tech came in to “help”. She was very unprofessional and kept joking about not wanting to be bit. I offered to muzzle my dog but they weren’t keen. Then the doctor didn’t know how to test the blood and kept asking the vet what to do. He never even examined our dog or asked routine questions, etc. I feel so bad for putting my dog through that. :(

I had been taking my cat to Casselman Veterinary Clinic for the past year due to recurring urine issues. Each visit was a disappointment. The vet was unprofessional. He did not greet us when we entered, did not make eye contact and was very cold with us. The overall service was terrible. One of the worst experiences was when the vet did a urine test for my cat without explaining or asking before, she meowed loudly, and her urine filled with blood was all over the table. He handed my cat back to me with blood still on her tail, which ended up on my shirt. We were left waiting in the examination room, unsure if the appointment was over until a receptionist asked us what we were still doing there. After repeated disappointments and poor treatment, I decided to switch to a different vet. The services there was sooo much better. During the first appointment with the new vet, they found 4 large stones in my cat's bladder, a condition that had been missed repeatedly by Casselman Veterinary Clinic. I do not recommend this clinic based on my experiences.
