How to Save Money at Emergency Veterinary Clinic, Hwy 10

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Where do I even start with this clinic, I thought I was doing the best for my dog by taking him to an emergency but little did I know they had no plans to make him feel better and were using my concern for my dog as a weakness to bill me for absolutely no proper treatment and keeping him at the clinic long as possible. After bringing him in and them knowing he had infections and pancreatitis the other vet I visited notified me that they had not treated him with antibiotics. I think even a normal person that’s not a doctor knows infection = need for antibiotics. Then they scared me by saying he’s not improving we need to keep him longer and do more tests, of course to get max use out of me because the clinic is basically empty and for a good reason. If you love your pet DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. Also be aware of Bethany Morgan she is a disgrace of a doctor and should have her position removed, she seems to have no heart or care and treated my dog like an object and also talked to me so rudely and worried me so much about his condition to make it worse than it was. She said to me either pay up or your dog will get so sick euthanizing will be the only option, which totally broke me. Keep in mind he’s a young healthy boy only 3.5 years old and she broke all hope I had. Thankfully he is currently being cared for at Dixie and North Point veterinary hospitals and doing amazing.

I had a great experience with Dr. Goldstein. She examined my senior dog to determine the next course of action for bloody stool. She asked many questions that felt like she understood what he was going through for the past 3 days. At the end I felt comfortable that I knew about all of the possible options and what was the best option. It didn't feel like they were trying to take my money and sell the most expensive option. I will admit that the emergency fee of $200 something is quite the price tag but it's for the wellbeing of our pets! Everyone I interacted with was kind. Thank you for your assistance tonight! 23 Aug 2024

I brought my cat in because she wound up with a bad gash in her abdomen after being accidentally let outside. Everyone working there was so kind and gentle with my cat, they fixed her up and she’s doing really well now :) the surgery was also done pretty efficiently and I was able to pick her up at a reasonable hour!

Starting off by voicing an experience on this clinic. As this review may help other pets. Im not sure why they charge for pets to stay overnight, but do not do anything. Their website states : Our Brampton Animal Hospital is fully equipped with veterinary medical technology for: assessment and treatment of trauma cases intensive care treatment on-site blood and urine testing radiology (x-ray) services anesthesia and emergency surgery continued care for chronic and life-threatening illnesses. They did not do their own run up of tests clearly as they did not provide the needs or the patient. Im not sure how a health care system can be in service if they cannot assess their patient. I personally suggest go somewhere that will provide proper and effective care. No pet deserves this, so please make sure the service your pet needs is provided.

All this vet cares about is money. I called after my cat was in surgery and the receptionists are rude and callous. They refuse to give any helpful advice over the phone. After spending $4k I’m pretty sure a reasonably considerate empathetic response would be far more welcome than the ignorant rude manner in which my questions were addressed. My pets are family not a pay check.
