How to Save Money at Animal Emergency Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Had to bring my English bulldog, King, here on a Sunday afternoon because he came down with pneumonia. Everyone who helped us was very prompt and attentive and answered all our questions with compassion. They took such great care of him and answered our calls and gave us updates at any hour we called. When he recovered and we were able to bring him home, they were quick to send all records to his primary vet for continuity of care. Thank you all so much for taking the best care of my baby boy and he is all better now!

One year ago today I took my cat in for a urinary blockage, and I seen a review exactly like experience I went through. My beautiful cat Ezekiel had a urinary blockage and so I took him in and when I got there they told me it was going to be $2000 have him there before the weekend comes up because at the time they weren’t open 24/7. I understand that ER visits are more expensive but in a time of need and my cats life on the line that is a very selfish price to make people pay. I love my cat with everything I have and so I paid for it. Things were going great for him and he was getting better. But right before the weekend came they called and told me his got worse and way worse than he was when he came in. His kidneys were spiking, went from normal levels to almost tripping in a couple hours, and the best option was to put him down. Before I made a decision I wanted to get a second opinion. And so I took him to another vet to get him checked out. And when I did they were looking at the notes and they seen that they clapped his catheter and left it clapped almost a day until I picked him up. He is doing perfect now and is a very happy guy now. I do NOT recommend this place if your animals has urinary traction problem.

I have a dog that has Laryngeal Disease; my primary care vet didn't come close to diagnosing this, in fact they suggested a scope test after a nearly $500 barrage of tests that concluded nothing. They recommended I get this scope test originally at OVS (Oklahoma Vet Hospital) another emergency vet, but they couldn't get him in for 2 weeks so I called around to see if I could get in sooner at another place that had the equipment do even do the test. That's when I came across here, I knew it was going to be expensive ($2000) regardless of which place I went so I just went ahead and made the appointment. My Doctor was Bill Gooldy within 15 minutes he was able to determine that I not only didn't need the costly scope test done, but determined what was actually happening to my dog after the many visits to my PC Vet. Ultimately the solution was to use a mild sedative to relax him and keep him calm thus preventing the choking cough that rendered him unable to even breathe through the day. He's improved 110% and it didn't cost me $2000 for the scope I didn't need and the visit itself was only $189 including some tests. He was helpful, kind and understanding and really knew his stuff. I would highly recommend Dr. Goodly, my dog Bossman is probably going to live a lot longer thanks to him!

I can’t say more wonderful things about the staff here. From the moment I arrived, to check out, I felt so comfortable with the staff and it was very obvious they cared about my baby as much as I did. Dr. McNamara is top notch. He is easy to talk to and explains things in a way you can understand. Yes, it is expensive. It is an emergency after all, but I felt the staff really helped me make smart decisions, both medically and financially. Every nurse and tech was excellent to give me updates through the hospitalization, listen to my cries over the phone, and assure me they would take the best care of my girl. Of course, I hope to never be back, but this is absolutely where I’d return if I needed emergency services again.

We had to bring our Akita in on a Friday evening and unfortunately had to put her down. The staff/doctor were so compassionate and understanding, it made this difficult process easy. A week later, we received a sympathy card with our pets paw and nose print. Thank you so much Animal Emergency center for caring for our pup as much as we did!
