How to Save Money at Neel Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My heart is bursting with gratitude for this incredible veterinary team. On Monday, October 14th, I rushed my precious Toy Poodle, Jedi Master Yoda, to their clinic in a state of panic. From the moment we arrived, they sprang into action, swiftly whisking Yoda away to assess his condition and begin immediate, life-saving care by placing him in an oxygen kennel. As I stood there, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios, the compassionate front staff enveloped me in comfort, offering reassurances that they would do everything in their power to help my beloved boy. But despite their best efforts, the diagnosis was devastating: Yoda had tumors on his spleen and blood in his chest. In that heartbreaking moment, Dr. Mackenzie Walker emerged as an angel of compassion. With a gentle touch and a voice filled with genuine empathy, she guided us through the unbearable decision to let our sweet Yoda go. Even in our grief, we felt seen and supported. The team gave us all the time we needed to shower Yoda with love, to hold him close, and to whisper our final goodbyes. Their kindness and care in our darkest hour will forever be etched in my memory. I cannot recommend them enough. We love you Yoda Boy! 5-19-2024 - 10-14-2024

I regret bringing my dog Belly here. In hind sight I should've let her pass peacefully at home. I feel empty inside that she died alone hooked up to tubes. I spent about $6000 for these vets to continue to starve my dog to death until she had cardiac arrest. My sweet girl before she entered Neel and died there.

I brought my 11 year old beloved Rat Terrier/Pomeranian mix, Peppa, into Neel for emergency treatment pertaining to her diabetes. This was the first time I have used this vet hospital and I was very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of every employee I met. The doctors kept me informed on Peppa’s progress and answered my questions. I was able to visit at any time. I would use Neel Veterinary Hospital again and recommend them to friends and family. They took great care of Peppa during a stressful and worrying time. Thank you!

I personally had a great experience with neel veterinary hospital! They took in my baby and shes doing so much better now after getting proper treatment and 24/7 care that she needed. I had to rush my dog to Neel veterinary hospital because she had eaten SOMETHING that was causing her to have siezures and the enid pet hospital was no help even after she stayed the night there. They took my pup to icu as soon as I arrived and began flushing her system to get everything out, including what her body had absorbed and distrubted throughout her body (did a deep flush). My dog pulled through after just a day or so of staying with them. After a few days of staying the night with no more siezures they let me know that she was still struggling to walk and it was mostly her back legs that was the issue. We had to do a neurologist consult to find out she had pain in her back legs which lead to an x-ray that showed she had a tear in her back leg from the siezures. She is now home and able to walk on her own after some time of healing and therapy to strengthen her legs back up and I am just so grateful that she's making such a great recovery! She is still sore, so we are taking it slow still, but it's understandable after all she went through for almost 2 days because of the first vet being no help. No one in Enid has been able to help me with a serious case for my dogs, so I was grateful that they had such success and communicated with me about her updates and prices for each next step to help her; everything was smoothly done. I feel most people who have left bad reviews just caught them at a bad time, when they were slammed with CRITICAL patients. If this is going on, take your baby somewhere that isn't overwhelmed with cases like this. Of course it's going to take awhile before they can get to your pet, especially if you don't give them a heads up or ask if they have room/time to take another patient and just show up expecting the world from them instantly. I understand when it's an emergency you don't really think to call ahead, you just want help right then and there and then have a bad experience because they have to work on the most serious cases first and try to get your pet comfortable at least until they can get to them.

I recently had to let go of my 17 year old Toby Tat. (Cat) It broke my heart and my Sister had to take Toby to Neel Veterinary Hospital. My sister didn't notice that they had my old address and I had moved twice since I last took my pets there. Then my sister gave them her email and not mine. It was quite a mix-up. I called Neel Veterinary and got that straightened out. Then I wasn't able to get a hold of Precious Pet's Cemetery with my new information and Toby's paw print was trying to be delivered to my old address. UPS took it back to Neel's. They were going to try to mail it to my new address. The Lady that was taking it to the P.O. saw how close I lived to the P.O. and brought it to me in person. I was & am so thankful. It's really hard losing a cat that I had since he was almost a new born. Thank you Neel Veterinary Hospital and especially the Lady that brought Toby Home. I'm not able to drive and it meant so much more than I could ever put into words.
