How to Save Money at Heintz Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My dog Missy had 19 teeth removed, vaccines, and some spots removed on her face by Dr Heintz yesterday and I couldn’t be happier! She is acting like her old self already the very next day! Dr Heintz and his staff were all amazing! When I posted about my experience on Facebook, I found out several friends also use Heintz as well. Thank you again for taking such great care of my baby!

The best vet in Oklahoma! The staff was very friendly when setting up our appointment. Dr. Heintz was amazing! The moment he walked in, he greeted our dog and sat on the floor with her the whole appointment. He answered all of our questions and concerns and just made our dog feel so comfortable and relaxed during her vaccinations. It may have only been her first visit, but he made us feel as if we were family and has known our pup for years. I will definitely be recommending him to friends and family!

I’ve gone through so many different vets and yet I never cared for any of them. Either it was their staff or their lack of knowledge in veterinary medicine. I was recommended this veterinary clinic from a previous employee who highly recommended them. After we adopted our puppy who had deformed legs I decided to take the advice from the former employee and give this vet a chance. Oh my! I’m SO glad that I did. The clinic is located in a beautiful part of town. The clinic itself is extremely well kept and clean. The second I walked through the door, I was greeted with an extremely kind receptionist. Every single employee was polite and respectful/kind. The veterinarian herself was extremely knowledgeable and was able to help me understand exactly what was going on with my puppy. Along with helping me figure out the next steps on how we would treat/care for my dog so she would no longer experience any pain anymore. I look forward to being a lifelong customer and I fully trust my furbabies in their care. If you’re looking for the perfect vet then this place is for you! Thank you Heintz for everything!

If you’re looking for a vet who truly cares about your pets and his clients, Dr. Heintz is the one for you! After an incredibly dismissive and disappointing experience at a different clinic, we took our cat and new kitten to Dr. Heintz for checkups, shots, and a second opinion on our older cat’s itchy skin problem. The front desk staff was super friendly, and the clinic was calm, clean, and quiet. We were shown to our exam room (marked with it cats’ names) very promptly, and the doctor was in shortly after. He sat on the floor with us and our cats and thoroughly explained everything we needed to know about their shots, feline leukemia testing/vaccination, and answered all our questions. We really appreciated his patience and thoughtfulness, and his frankness when it came to what to test/vaccinate for and when. There was no upwelling whatsoever. He was SO gentle with our kitties and stayed on their level (the floor) with them the whole time. I so appreciated that simple gesture so full of care and consideration. To top it off, the pricing was so reasonable. Heintz veterinary clinic is everything we hoped for, and definitely Our Vet from now on! It’s rare that I would look forward to taking our sweet cats to the vet, but knowing we have a vet we can trust makes all the difference. Thank you Dr. And Mrs. Heintz for all the care you put into your work! It does not go unnoticed.

I have been taking my babies to Dr. Heintz for 8 years - I would only trust my babies with the best, and Dr. Heintz is it!! He is so patient and thorough for every single visit. There have been times in which I’ve had to drop my cats off for “the day” (if Dr. Heintz has a busy schedule but your worried about getting your animal in to see him as soon as possible, he will let you drop off in the morning and as soon as he gets extra time between scheduled patients, he will examine your pet), and each time this happens, Dr. Heintz will personally take the time out to give me a call and give me a very thorough explanation of what’s going on. He will stay on the phone with you and answer any and all questions very thoroughly. What I also love about Dr. Heintz is the fact that he is against putting unnecessary stress on your animal AND your wallet by trying to push more expensive procedures/tests if they aren’t necessary. I trust Dr. Heintz with all my babies and you absolutely should too!!
