How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Sweet Kala was diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis which prompted our vet to send a referral to Blue Pearl (we have no specialists in our area.) A few days later we made the four drive and were absolutely impressed with the hospital the moment we walked in. Nurse Erin, quite possibly the best human ever created, took us to our room and calmed our dog and us. Dr. Walker answered our questions and explained the procedure; we never felt rushed. His expertise and previous experiences with this surgery made us realize that Kala was in the EXACT right place. Every single person we interacted with was kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. This doesn’t even include those who we know were behind the scenes helping to take care of our girl. During our drive back, I messaged all of our veterinarian friends and shared our experiences with them. I want others, who live in the Texas Panhandle, to know we have the “Mayo Clinic” of veterinarian hospitals just a few hours away. So many of these reviews focus on cost but, you absolutely get what you pay for🏆🥇

We came into the ER after my dog wasn’t getting better, she was having some neurological symptoms so they brought her back to monitor her and told us she would need to stay over night so they could do more testing the following day. The following day we get a call in the morning stating that my dogs heart had stopped and they did cpr and were able to bring her back, but that it was probably time to say goodbye. My family and I rushed over where we then got put in an exam room where they told us they were able to get her to breathe on her own. Blue pearl did not give up on my dog, and immediately took action. They got us a referral to a neurologist in Dallas where she got diagnosed with encephalitis. If it wasn’t for blue pearls staff and doctors that kept digging Sophia wouldn’t be here.

Very kind staff and medical team during some incredibly scary moments. They were patient and didn’t pressure us into any specific treatments- they made it clear we knew our precious dog best and the decision was ours. They brought her into our room after an ultrasound + quick treatment and we just sat with her while we decided. I’m not sure how these people remain so kind and empathetic when they see such intense medical situations day after day, but they do. I’m very grateful. I’m even more grateful that my precious heart dog is still here after another ruptured tumor. Blue Pearl gave her an emergency dose of Yunnan Baiyao upon arrival (which she’s been on for 8 months) and I fully believe that supplement has helped keep her alive.

The staff at Blue Pearl are the most kind and caring humans on this planet! There were 2 others I apologize and don’t remember their names, but Dr. Walker, Erin, Karsyn, and Jasmine were the most incredible people to deal with! I came in to the clinic in a COMPLETE panic with my Great Dane, Stella, and they were literally angels! They took care of her immediately to stabilize her and walked me through every process leading up to a critical procedure! We have been to Blue Pearl for a less emergent issue with her before, and I knew without a doubt this is where I would return should other emergencies arise. I’ll always recommend this clinic!

I was at Blue Pearl Saturday night at 2:30 am with my 14 and 4 month old pug. She couldn't sleep, she was in distress. The doctor took her right in and I filled out her paperwork. She is losing her mobility and had not gone pee in a while. Her bladder was full. They did bloodwork and extracted the urine from her. I got sent home with medicine and they said to follow up with my Vet. They were polite and professional and answered all my questions. It was very clean. We had a wonderful experience!!
