How to Save Money at Edmond East Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Referred by our regular vet and visited once for kennel cough. I felt our dog received excellent care. Everyone from the front desk to the tech to the doctor was warm, patient, and helpful. I’d definitely go back!

The service provided is consistently excellent. Everyone here always demonstrates utmost care and respect towards my animals. The cost may be slightly higher, but I continue to bring my animals here due to the exceptional care provided by the staff.

Edmond East has been our go-to vet for about two years. In this short time, they saved my dog, watched my children, cared for my 15 year-old dog, cared for me, became my vet family, and just recently, laid my old dog to rest. I cannot say enough about how caring everyone is in this vet. The front desk ladies Darla, Tana, and Kim were always so jolly and happy to see us. If I ever needed to come in ASAP, they made it happen. They also cared for me, my sweet dog, and my children. There were times that my children were melting down while I was trying to have an appointment so Darla would offer snacks and toys to them. Darla and Tana were so empathetic to me all the times I came in emotional over my old baby. Love them 💕 Dr. Swickey was our main vet and both my husband and I absolutely love her. She really listened to our concerns and thought about all options for our pup before deciding on what was best for her. She would even call after hours to check on my dog! I’m so grateful we had Dr. Swickey. When the time came to put my sweet pup down, Dr. Coffin, was very patient with my husband and I making the decision, and taking the time to say goodbye. Angela was so sweet and empathetic and explained everything really well to us. I was surprised and so grateful that some of the back tech ladies who have cared for my baby for so long also came in to say goodbye to her and to comfort us. It was such a sad but beautiful moment to see everyone come out and love on her. I can’t remember all their names but I do know Heather, Christina, Angela, Lindsey, and Madison always loved my pup. I’m sorry if I missed someone’s name. We had the option to go to an ER vet to have her put down but the only place I wanted it to happen was at Edmond East-where my baby felt comfortable and loved. Thank you to everyone for loving my baby and comforting my family. You are so appreciated and loved.

We've been taking our puppies to East Edmond Animal Hospital for their veterinarian needs since we moved to the area in 2018. Dr. Rex Johnson and staff are as compassionate as they are professional, your animals well being and quality of life is their highest priority. Recently our 15 year old Quincy suffered a stroke, rushed her in to EEAH, unfortunately the stroke took her from us, however this is when their compassion and professionalism was truly on display. Our puppies are family, they deserve the best.

When my dog couldn’t get his hind end up I rushed him to my vet and had tests run. Came home not really knowing what was going on. By the next morning my gut told me I need a second opinion. I was able to get him in with Dr. Swickey immediately. I am so glad I did. Hopefully now he is on the way to recovery. The entire staff that I came in contact with was very friendly and understanding. Will definitely be going back.
