How to Save Money at MedVet Toledo
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Thank heavens they are here all night . The people are awesome. One thing not cool is the fact they take your dog into another room and if you want to stay with your pet get ready to argue, and you will lose .

The whole staff was friendly and compassionate. Even the front desk reception. They took my cat Newman in immediately to check vitals and they were ok so they brought him back out to me. Dr Theresa VonAlmen was very thorough and explained everything completely. She listened to my concerns. I would highly recommend MedVet in Toledo. My cat is eating again and getting back to normal. Thank you to all the staff at MedVet!

Our dog died about 4 hours after leaving the office. We were given the option to admit her for $5000.00 or take her home with supportive car for $700. We spent the $700+ dollars for for a slew of drugs, some experimental, with the thought that we'd give her till Monday and see if there was any improvement. I made that decision because, by looking at her I was sure that she wasn't going to make it, but what do I know I'm not the doctor. She was 15 years old, and very healthy until she wasn't about 2 days prior to the visit. They did the bloodwork, found her to be in Kidney failure with Pancreantitus. She couldn't stand, eat, drink, barely open her eyes. It seemed more important that I sign up for Care Credit and get her admitted than it was to get my dog comfortable, with a realistic prognosis. They sold me hope... I'm glad I brought her home to die with the ones her loved her, instead of strangers. It's no fault of MedVet that my dog passed away, but I am discouraged at the opportunity to leverage emotion for a dollar. Even $750 bucks didn't buy her another 6 hours of life.

As a pet owner, MedVet is the kind of place you hope you never have to go to. We have had various pets for years, and finally ended up there back in March with our 9 year old cat. After rushing her in that early morning, we unfortunately were told that the only humane thing to do was to let her go. I don’t remember the names of the vets and techs there that day, but the compassion, love, sympathy, and patience they showed to us and Josie that day was enormous. Being an emergency vet must be an impossible job and I can’t imagine how difficult it is to weather these losses with pet owners, but they did it with such grace and compassion, even though they had just met us that morning. When they asked if we wanted a paw print keepsake, my roommate also asked if we could get a nose print. They told us that it can be difficult to get that, so it may not be possible. When they brought the keepsakes to us after, there were about four nose prints and she told us they tried about 100 times to get us a good one. The fact that they took the time to do that for us meant so, so much. We were there March 4th in the morning. I don’t know their names, and I may never meet any of them again, but thank you to everyone who do everything they could for our baby in her final moments, and for guiding us through the beginning of our grief with kindness and grace. It means more to us than we can put into words.

Thank you for helping my dog out. She is doing a lot better today. If I could I'd give 10 stars. The staff was very friendly and is definitely very compassionate about what they do for your pets here. I highly recommend it here.
