How to Save Money at Bartels Busack Pet Hospital Resort & Spa
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our family has been taking our pets to Bartels for over 20 years. We’ve gotten nothing but the best care. Our last trip, unfortunately, was to put down our 14yr old cat. They were able to get us in a couple of hours earlier (we didn’t want him to suffer any longer) and they were very accommodating while we were there. They even sent us a beautiful bouquet of flowers later the same day. We appreciate everything they’ve done for us and for taking great care of Dude!

I cannot recommend Bartels Busak Pet Hospital and Resort enough! From the moment you step foot in this facility, you are greeted with warmth and love for all types of furry friends. The hospital side is exceptional, with knowledgeable and skilled veterinarians who put your pet's health and safety as their top priority. But it's the resort side where the magic really happens. My dogs, Bruno and Baylee, have been attend daycare here every Saturday, and they literally can't wait to get out of the car and into the facility. The staff is caring and wonderful with the pups. Bruno and Baylee always come home absolutely tuckered out from their day of fun and play. The facility itself is immaculate, with top-of-the-line amenities for dogs and all their unique needs. It's clear that the team at Bartels Busak truly loves what they do.

Phenomenal place to take your fur babies! It is on the pricier side- HOWEVER it is worth it because they truly care for your pet and are compassionate compared to other places. Very professional as well as very friendly staff! Dr.Mitzy is amazing, she is very gentle and friendly with my energetic cat Obi & my other shy kitty Kiki. I always come asking lots of questions on my visits-she take times to explain & answer them, unlike most places! They are also very flexible to rescheduling as well. They also send you concerns/updates through text, which is super convenient. I highly recommend trusting your fur babies to them!

I boarded my 8 month old Aussie Cattle dog, Thomas, who had never been separated from me since he was 5 weeks old, and the facility was fantastic, the employees took wonderful care of him and texted me updates and pictures of him having so much fun! He had such a good time I am signing him up doggy daycare there once a week.

I’m very impressed with this pet hospital! They welcomed me and my new puppy with open arms same day visit , the Dr was very informative explained the test and price beforehand just to make sure I was ok with it. She reassured me on everything that was going on. Her assistant was also very kind and greeted me and my puppy with kindness and made us feel welcomed. It’s very clean and they’re following Covid protocols which made me feel safe. I’m very pleased and happy about my visit thank you for helping me with my puppy and giving me the information I needed. I’m so beyond pleased I wish I could give 100 stars !
