How to Save Money at Milford Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

Milford Animal Hospital has provided incredible care for my cat. He has been dealing with medical issues for several months and the staff here has been so supportive. They’ve helped problem-solve different ways to help my cat. I’ve called and emailed with questions more times than I could count at this point, yet the entire staff is always so patient and compassionate. I truly feel like they care about my pet’s well-being. Every vet, tech, and staff member is great. I also really appreciate that they have evening and Saturday hours. I highly recommend this practice to anyone in the area. It is a real asset to the Milford community!

Everyone is nice here and the doctors take care of my fur babes, but good lord for the 3rd time they have ordered in my prescription food incorrectly. Even though I have moved out of the area I have still kept them as my vet, so it’s not a quick ride to go pick up food. It’s extremely frustrating when I waste my gas. Do better!

We have been taking our pets to Milford Animal Hospital for over 15 years. This team of professionals makes us feel like we are with family every time we show up with one of our fur babies. We’ve had to send a few of our babies over the rainbow 🌈 bridge and they were so helpful in making the process less painful. This is Mr. Baby who had a tragic accident last year and they were our lifesavers during a time of crisis. I’m so grateful to this amazing team of people!

As many pet owners know, it’s hard to find a good veterinary to treat your animals. When we first got our puppy we fell in to the wellness plan trap that is Banfield and Petsmart, reassuring us they are here for us. Initial I believe it was a convenience thing and knowing you could go to any banfield nationwide to have you pets seen, but there was no good connection with the staff or doctors. Just like trying to find a new doctor for yourself, it’s just as hard for four leg extended family. As we had talked to neighbors and read online reviews we kept hearing great things about Milford Animal Hospital and decided to check them out. When first entering I must admit my guard was up a bit due to the fact that I expected to be overwhelmed with a short staff and doctors who know better, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. We where welcomed with smiles and pleasantries when entering and this was a welcome surprise. The whole staff was interactive and stopping by to show affection to our golden doodle, their new patient. Dr. Gary Clemons, DVM, was our vet for this exam and had a great bed side personality. Not only did he apologize for the wait (5 minutes past appt time which was no problem), but also gave a background and bios of the practice. He also took the time to hear my concerns along with sharing his observations and techniques he has learned over the years treating animals. Along with the Dr, the staff was very attentive with Nittany and treated her like their own. As many have experienced your animals can sense bad/scary places, and this was not one of them. For those of you looking for a veterinary in the area I urge you check them out, for both you and your pets piece of mind.

I can not say enough good things about the entire staff at Milford Animal Hospital. Yesterday I hauled my potbelly pig there for a hoof trim and the doctors and support staff went above and beyond to get it done. My pig wouldn't get out of the trailer so the staff gathered in the trailer to do the trimming, and when one of the tools wasn't able to get through her hooves easily Dr. Chelsea sent staff around to local businesses to see if anyone had a tool that would make a cleaner cut. Through out the entire process everyone was so kind and professional. I would recommend Milford Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a new veterinarian.
