How to Save Money at Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We live in Athens but come to Green Meadow Vet for acupuncture services. Dr Kidd and her staff couldn’t be any nicer! I’ve worked in pet care for over 20 years and have been to quite a few vets in that time. I’m picky about vet care for my own pets and I would highly recommend Green Meadow to anyone looking for kind and compassionate vet care. My sweet Peggy never seems stressed out after her appts and the whole staff talks very lovingly about her.

We love Dr. Kidd and her staff. They truly care about your pets and will do whatever they can to help. We've always had great experiences with them no matter what the issue. We highly recommend Green Meadow.

This place was fine before Covid. Then during Covid they started locking people out and not allowing them to accompany their pets during appointments. They are still doing this today, three years later. It is both alarming and strange behavior when a "professional" locks out the public. It may be innocent, but to me it is both rude and disrespectful. People have no choice but to hope they are doing the right thing behind closed doors.

Pains me to write such a review. We have been bringing our pets here for well over 30 years, more than 18 pets and 10's of thousands of dollars over the years. We showed up at 12:45 for our 1pm appointment. We were the only car in the lot. At 1:15 we called to see if they knew we we're in the parking lot waiting. Her response was what kind of car are we in. We informed her that we was the only car in lot and she said ok. At 1:30 a car pulls in and they immediatly walk out and helped them. At 1:40 another car pulls up and they walk right out and started talking with them. As she walks away from vehicle I asked her if anyone was going to tend to us. She shrugs her shoulders and says to me "I don't know, I told them you was here" now it's 1:45 and I tell her that we've been here for an hour and nobody has even checked us in or anything. She looked at me and shrugged her shoulders again and said "I can't make them come to you, they'll get to you when they get to you" I told her that our time is important to us and this is unacceptable and that we are going to leave. Her response was OK. It's a sad day and age when people treat you like garbage and still expect you to give them you business. I work hard for my money and I just want to be treated with respect and as if I matter. Dr. Spindler's staff has always treated us with respect. Dr. Kidd is a good vet. She has taken good care of our pets. I just can't be treated like this from her staff and continue give her my money. It's a Damn Shame! No Excuse will do.

Won't take our cat anymore because it's been a little over a year since he was there.
