How to Save Money at VIP Petcare Vaccination Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They saved out cat’s life; our male cat had a UTI and his symptoms started on the weekend where almost nothing was open except for the very pricey unaffordable emergency vet hospitals. Some (actually most) vet clinics were closed because of the bad tornado storm that just hit Cleveland including our vet. Other clinics wouldn’t take new patients, some don’t take walk ins and others just quoted me at 3500$! One place actually asked us to surrender our cat which was unbelievably ridiculous; in the midst of the whole chaos and the painful situation we were going through; how dare them expect us to give them one of our own family members! Our male cat needed help to save his life before his condition quickly was deteriorating ! Thank God, after the nonstop continual search for the long hours of the night and most of the morning of the next day; our friend who fosters cats, told us about VIP Petcare; we rushed out there and waited for the clinic to open; they were literally our last hope; as we were exhausted and both my daughter and I were crying all night watching our cat suffer. As the VIP Petcare clinic opened; the wait time was short, the vet was very kind, understanding, professional, took his time to talk to my daughter and I about our cat’s condition: you can see compassion, care and sincere honesty from the way he was treating our cat with kindness while gently examining and treating him! This clinic saved our pet’s life because it was affordable unlike the other ridiculous places that would accept walk ins but charge hefty prices. The staff were very friendly and treated our cat nicely comforting him and holding him gently and talking to him white the vet administered the medication. Thank God for them; I highly recommend them and pray that no one will go through what we did with our pet.

This was a very good service. Vet and technician both were experienced, proactive and personable in handling our anxious pet and our interactions both. It is disappointing to hear this Wellness Clinic is ending. It has been very supportive to us this year when vet appointments have not been quickly available.

I found the Choice Wellness Package pricing not too bad. I downloaded a coupon from their website which saved me some funds->$45.00 and I found the vet to be pleasant and helpful. The tech however was not accurate in some of her responses. Facts are stubborn things. My major beef with them is in getting the heartworm and flea medication in a timely and orderly fashion. The medication that I requested they did not keep in the clinic, it seemed that they only had the higher priced medications in the clinic. I went online to the order the medication that same day of our visit and it took well over 2 weeks to receive it. I called the clinic several times to attempt to speak to the vet to help in speeding up getting the medications as my dog was already overdue for the June dose. The clinic that I used to take her to had closed. My phone calls were NEVER returned. I have the receipts. The vat had told me that if there are any issues to give him a call. What is the point of that if you are not going to return the calls? That is NOT logical, even Stevie Wonder can see that. I just want to give folks a caveat in regard to getting the heartworm and flea medication in an timely and orderly fashion.

After a struggle to get into the other locations we finally got ahold of Lakewood. They were so kind and helpful. They treated Biscuit so well. They are lovely there, and though it’s a long drive we will happily drive the 40 minutes to see them again!

Overall great experience with knowledgeable staff! Only one vet and assistant vet working with restricted hours. We waited about an hour after opening time we were the 3rd in line. Moved quickly for only one vet. Will be back for future pet care needs.
