How to Save Money at MedVet Cincinnati
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We can't say and thank everyone enough for taking such good care of our dog, Sammy. From the time we walked in, we were greeted promptly with a smile to the vet tech's, doctors, and everybody we came in contact with was professional, transparent, and so very caring. Thank you to Chelsea R. Vet Tech in Neurology, for being so observant and saving our little Sammy's life along with Dr. Slanina, Neurology, Dr. Bergeson, Emergency Dept., Dr. Della Ripa, Internal Medicine. Amazing team. Thank you.

They saved PHOEBE!!! She had a hairball stuck in her small intestine and they saved her life. We did everything they told us to do and 2 weeks later, after her emergency surgery, she is completely healed and back to her old self! We are so relieved and glad that we found MedVet. This has by far been the best vet experience I’ve had my entire life. They were so attentive kind and caring to Phoebe and to us! If we didn’t live so far away I would love to make them our cats primary veterinarian. Great job MedVet staff!! You’re 10,000 stars! ⭐️ ❤️🎉😎🙏🏻

oh my goodness!!! This veterinary hospital should get 100 stars!! I breed Bichon Frise puppies and after 17 years I have NEVER needed help whelping a litter like I did March 1st , 2024 ! Our girl, CamiJo, had a litter of 7 a year ago with no problem. This litter took a very scary turn for the worse after her first puppy . X-rays at our vets office showed 7 babies a week before she was due. CamiJo could not get her second puppy to come out and we knew there were 5 more in there! We decided to drive 40 minutes to MedVet in Cincinnati to seek help for her and her babies. The staff greeted us- sprang immediately into action and the second baby was born and alive and well in their triage area! They then offered us a room - all "tools" needed for whelping the other babies, and medical assistance if there might be further issues! Leandra (may not be spelled correctly) Was an absolute angel sent from God as far as I'm concerned! The babies were born very far apart- and there were a few issues requiring me to ask for help- yes- we pulled an all-nighter! The staff brought us anything and everything to try to make us as comfortable as possible! It's such a rare instance in this world to find such a loving, compassionate, efficient, selfless, over-the-top establishment offering all they can to help in this frightening situation that I cannot recommend them highly enough!!!! Emergency after-hours pet care at its FINEST! We LOVE our fur babies- DO NOT SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS THAN MEDVET CINCINNATI!!

Our 14 year old dog had a nosebleed that wouldn’t stop. We live in NKY and our drive was 30 minutes. We were greeted by a friendly, compassionate and professional woman at the front desk. She took our information and explained that someone would be out momentarily to assess our pet and moments later they were. He was stable so we settled down to wait our turn. They were exceptionally busy but every interaction between staff, owners and pets was professional and caring. When our dog was seen by the doctor, we were given treatment options and the next steps were explained clearly. They began treatment and when completed they reviewed the medications he’d be taking and their purpose. Checking out at the front desk was completed easily and the employee was very friendly and professional. She, the tech who walked us out and the doctor reiterated that if we had ANY questions or concerns we shouldn’t hesitate to call or return if necessary. I have more than 25 years of customer service experience and have stringent expectations of good service. MedVet and their staff far exceeded them!

We took our pup in on Friday night around midnight due to him having two seizures back to back. You can imagine the panic that set in and just how nervous we were. The staff immediately took our dog in and checked vitals and kept us SO informed throughout the whole process. Super thankful to have our dog home with us and to know he was in great hands!
