How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I called before I drove to the facility and the doctor that answered the phone actually came into the room and said she would be in shortly to see my pup. From the moment we walked in, everyone was super nice and accommodating. Everyone checked in with me as well ensuring I was comfortable. Love the location and I will use in future if needed!

I was so grateful for every member of the staff. They took excellent care of my puppy and made me feel safe and comfortable knowing she was in the best possible hands. They allow you to stay with your pet the entire time. My pet stayed overnight and every time I called to check in the Dr spoke with me immediately to give me updates on my puppy’s progress. I couldn’t have had a better experience.

We first encountered VEG in April and they were absolutely amazing with our sweet boy Max, who was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. They got him stabilized and on meds that would give us some more time with him. We enjoyed the summer with him until last night he was showing signs he was in distress again. We arrived around 3am and they immediately began caring for him. I was so upset I didn't catch anyone's names but the vet and the techs were so kind and compassionate, they never once rushed us to make a decision and let us cry and cuddle Max and answered all our questions about letting him go. This was such a sad and hard time, but I am so glad we were at VEG.

out of all the places i could have chosen to bring my dog during such an unfortunate circumstance, i feel so blessed and grateful that i happened to pick VEG in Dublin. my puppy Butters ingested a lot of string while unsupervised after his neuter, and unfortunately required emergency surgery. when i tell you that this team went above and beyond for me and my dog, i could not possibly convey the amount by enough. he is an anxious little guy who is terrified of strangers, and can come across as reactive at the first meeting, especially when not approached in the right way. i’ve become accustomed to him being put in situations where he is forced to feel uncomfortable, and will growl and cry the entire time, due to others’ initial fear and discomfort around him especially being a pitbull mix. the veterinary nurses made an effort to listen to me and understand his behavior before ever laying a hand on him. when it came time for pick up, he didn’t want to leave!! he was getting belly rubs and giving kisses to the whole staff. it made me so happy to get the opportunity to see him as himself with anyone besides me in my own house, and gave me so much hope for him and his growth. in addition, the practice manager was truly one of the most amazing and supportive people i’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting in my life. she (literally) gave me a shoulder to cry on when i was absolutely hysterical over Butters’ circumstances and made every effort to make me feel more seen and less alone. even when funds were a huge problem, they did everything they could to figure out a plan to get my baby the life saving care that he needed. everything i experienced at this clinic the past couple days went way beyond professionalism and what a job entails. it really felt like a personal love and support that i’ve never seen or experienced anywhere else in my life. it was more love than i would expect from a family member. i just want to say thank you SO much to everyone here who had a part in caring for my baby boy, i wish i had some way of repaying all of you. you are truly a blessing to me and my family and gave me so much hope and comfort in what i expected to be a terrible experience.

I have a fearful girl and the team at VEG Dublin went above and beyond to make sure that she was comfortable throughout the entire process. They allowed us to do her exam and get her sedated outside! And then we brought her in so they could monitor her and do her diagnostics. Everyone was so kind to my girl and it was such a joy to see her make friends!
