How to Save Money at Dublin Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
My family has been coming here since my childhood cats were kittens, and we love it still. Everyone on the staff is very knowledgeable and kind. I always feel safe leaving my pets in their care because I know that everyone there really does love them too. They were so gracious when one of my cats randomly decided to become a nightmare entity and had to come back another time on premedication because she was being too mean. They are so helpful in making sure they have answered all your questions—even though I try not to be, I am a bit neurotic about my pets’ care, and they’re so patient with me about it. They understand how much we can worry about our babies even when we know they’re in good hands. They are also very kind and understanding about how much of a financial stress large vet bills can be and are very open to having conversations with you about what is recommended and why, but I also trust that the recommendations they give me aren’t going to be excessive just to rack up a bill. My cat recently had a dental procedure with them and I found their pricing to be very fair (still pricy, but for this specialized industry and in this area of town it’s quite a good value). We definitely recommend Dublin Vet Clinic!

Excellent vet clinic. The vets are extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, and caring, and so are their staff. Their diagnostic skills are great, and they give thorough exams. Very thorough and efficient. Their pricing is transparent and fair. They are always respectful of us being on a budget and readily give me pricing in advance for procedures when I ask for them. More than other clinics I have been to. They offer products they have for sale but also offer alternatives. Great attention to detail, also, and a lot of details go into making our visits smooth and without surprises, especially with our three cats. Extremely caring, kind, and gentle staff. I feel my cats are loved by the staff and vets when we come to the Dublin Vet Clinic. We have worked primarily with Dr. Brigette Lightell and Dr. Todd Lightell, and with Jill, Brooke, and Mackenzie. They have been mainstays in our cats' care over the past ten years (a few years less for Brooke and Mackenzie, who joined less than ten years ago but have really shined). My 13-year-old cat Grace loves to sit on Jill's lap when she comes in. Dublin Vet Clinic reminds me of the old-time small-town doctor who knows you and your family well and treats you with straightforward and effective care over many years. I would recommend the Dublin Vet Clinic to anyone.

I love this place and so does my pup! We’ve had bad experiences in the past with vets and it took us years to find one we actually like that cares about our pets and has our pet’s best interest. Dr. Dunleavy is phenomenal! She truly cares about her patients. She gets down on the floor with our pup, is so kind and gentle and caring. She explains everything to me and never pushes anything on us. She listens to my concerns and doesn’t brush anything off. She is so good at her job and takes care of our pup. She takes all factors in to consideration if medication is needed and will do what’s best (not necessarily easiest) for your pet. The staff is absolutely amazing. They all care so much for our pup, Levi and spoil him like crazy when he visits!! He is always so excited to see all of his favorite girls when he comes in! I cannot thank Dr. Dunleavy and the staff at DVC enough.

Dr. Dunleavy is absolutely phenomenal! We rescued a dog who was heart worm positive and she has been with us every step of the way helping us get our dog back to health. She is so good with both of my dogs and I would highly recommend her to anyone! She is so kind and reassuring.
