How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I can’t say enough good things about VEG. I’ve worked in veterinary medicine for five years and this place exceeded every expectation I had! Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable, my little man Scrappy had an absolute blast making friends with everyone and giving kisses! They were all so understanding and gentle with him. Pricing was very reasonable and I feel very good about the care that he received, and his treatment plan moving forward. Absolute 10/10. A very special thanks to Julie, Jessie and Jacob (you guys are the best!), and both doctors that he saw, for making our first client visit to VEG a wonderful one.

First let me start by saying the staff at this facility are amazing and was incredibly personal to me and my dog. I have a nervous dog which the staff worked greatly around to make sure he was feeling as comfortable as possible. They gave him lots of love and offer rooms which made him feel at home. We noticed a night and day difference when being able to stay with him. The rooms they offer come with a bed and is very private so your pet feels at home. We stayed for about 16 hours and was able to stay by our pet the whole time. Britney and Lily took special care of our boy and making sure he was calm. They even allowed me to calm him down in between the X-rays and getting sedated. Then after they let me be by him the whole time even taking him outside through the back just so him and i we're comfortable. The environment and staff greatly lightens up the mood and allows for you to care the best for your animal. The last thing i would to add is how great this facility made us feel about payment. Being young and having not much credit didn't help us in getting approved for anything. The staff here didn't make us feel pressured to anything. They allowed us to just pay almost all of what we can of the quote and took some none essential things off. Thank you Jacob for helping us and getting us set up for the night.

We took our dog tonight after having vomiting and bloody poop since this late afternoon. The person at the front desk was so welcoming and gushed over how adorable our pup is 🥰 the place is open concept and rooms are offered if you prefer. They have water and snacks available. Dr. R was fantastic and explained everything. The billing process was transparent and came right to my phone with an itemized receipt. The vet tech team was very kind and patient with our dog. Hopefully we will not need this service in the future but if we do, they are our first choice!

This was the most amazing experience. I have ever had at an emergency vet. They treated us like family and made my pet feel comfortable. He is always very high anxiety, but he was so comfortable there. I highly recommend this place. They were amazing. They even gave my dog A bed while he waited. They said he is welcome on the couch. Also. It felt like home and even though it was an emergency vet.

Amazing staff, they were very busy and I had to wait for a while. But no matter how long the wait they were still communicating with me and making sure I was comfortable. I really appreciate how professional they were too, they seemed to really care about my pet, and it showed in their work. Every person I interacted with was really great.
