How to Save Money at Care Center Dayton
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My cat had not been acting like her usual self so I opted to take her to Care Center. Due to her very unstable condition, they were able to bring her back to diagnostics and treatment immediately after speaking with reception. It appears that if a pet is in very unstable condition they are able to see them very quickly. All of the staff I encountered, which in my case were primarily Dr. Taylor, as well as Megan, Erin, Hannah, and many others, were incredibly compassionate, understanding, and helpful. Especially when it came to answering any questions and helping me understand my cats condition. Although my cat later passed at a different facility, all of the care my cat received was top-notch and I would most definitely recommend this location for your pets emergency healthcare.

Care Center of Dayton saved my little Leonard's life. After a freak accident, he needed major emergency surgery immediately. Dr. Swanson did absolutely AMAZING on the surgery, Dr. Biggs was one of the most caring people I've ever met, and every nurse & assistant loved Leonard as if he was their own. They made me feel so cared for and Leonard so valued, even amongst all of the additional chaos that an ER vet has. They made sure to update me as much as possible, through phone calls and through photos. Care Center saved his life, which in-turn saved mine. I am forever indebted to them & their care.

I'm very happy with our experience at Care Center dayton. I brought my niece's cat after she fell off of a bookshelf hurt herself by impaling her tooth through her lip, and of course it had to be at 2:00 in the morning when every other vet office was closed. While we did have to wait a long time I understand that it is an emergency vet and thankfully our cat was stable. The reception was great about giving us updates about when our cat would be seen. And the vet the vet tech and everyone there was super nice super polite and you could tell they really cared about animals. The reception area had free snacks. And we were so touched by how wonderful they were we even brought them a dozen donuts after they discharged our sweet kitty. Thanks for all of your help

We have, unfortunately, had to visit this facility twice this summer. Both times we couldn’t have asked for more competent, kind care. The facility is beautiful and clean. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They really took time to listen to our concerns regarding our pup. Our last visit resulted in the diagnosis of an autoimmune disease but we left feeling confident in his treatment plan and outlook due to the care we received at Care Center. 100% would not go anywhere else for emergent vet care.

Took my 5 month old boxer, Trevor, there Saturday, 9/14/2024. Arrived a little before 12:30 p.m. was told we would be next. We were told time after time a more serious case came in they were taking before our Trevor. After waiting 5 hours in an examine room we left in discuss of the place. I understand that an emergency may come in that needs to be seen next. But several times pushing our loved one to the end of the line is unfair. When I asked the front desk how they determined how seriuos the next pet was to be seen. The lady yelled at me and told me to read the sign on the wall, she was extremely rude. It is my opinion that the staff at Care Center Dayton does not realize that we love our puppy and the amount of worrying and crying we were doing was very stressful to us. We will never be back.
