How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This place doesn't even deserve one star. Had the absolute worse experience here. Would NOT recommend it to anyone! Most UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF! I had an appointment for my dog at 4pm Saturday 8/4/18 for a general check up, which I had gone in person to schedule it Saturday the week before. I Showed up to the appointment at 3:45 for them to tell me that they gave up my appointment to someone else and my dog would not be seen. When asked why they would give up my appointment to someone else they said because they called me to confirm and left me many voice mails and I did not answer. Mind you, that was not true. I showed them my missed called records and voicemail records to show them that I hadn't received anything from them. The guy at the front desk Ronnie (not sure if thats even his really his name) was beyond rude and said that it wasn't his problem because he wasn't the one who was calling to confirm appointments, it was someone else. When trying to find a solution to the problem the staff was extremely rude, Ignored me when trying to see when my dog could be seen next, and didn't even have the audacity to apologize for their mistake. To make the long story short, it basically ended with Ronnie telling us in a really NASTY attitude and tone of voice to Just leave because he wasn't going to make an appointment for my dog to be seen and he didn't care. If they can this irresponsible and careless about an appointment, I could only imagine how they could be with our actual pets.

Everyone was very helpful and friendly to my coco, the doctor was very informative . Early appointments are suggested, because it gets very busy.

They were great, I was so nervous in taking my puppy and they made it super easy to do so. They recommend food and took my dog even when we were a bit late to our appointment.

DON’T TAKE YOUR PET HERE. I’ve been bringing my dog here ever since she was a puppy and I made an appointment for her back in October and I had to wait until November for her to be seen. A few DAYS before the appointment, they called and canceled the appointment saying they don’t have any other appointments coming up soon. I’ve just gone in to make another appointment and they said they rescheduled the appointment in December but we were NEVER told that. The next appointment they had for me was in MARCH. Unbelievable. I’m not waiting another month for her to be seen by a doctor. Such a waste of time.

Had the worse experience there yesterday. I took my dog for her annual check up her appointment was for 10:00am and she was not seen till 5:30pm. It is really unfair to have a dog caged, not feed for all those hours. And then be told by Dr. Bernard that she could not do all of her test because she was being aggressive when my dog is far from aggressive. Luna is a very friendly and loveable dog. I would "NOT" recommend this place to anyone! Very unprofessional doctor.
