How to Save Money at Laurelton Bayside Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have been bringing my dogs to Laurelton for five years. I switched to Laurelton as my previous veterinarian's office involved extreme wait times (sometimes hours) for both appointments and bill payment. The staff at Laurelton is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I never feel rushed and they treat my dogs with genuine compassion and kindness. I have always been able to schedule appointments in a timely manner and I get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I was put on hold, maybe two times in five years, and it only lasted a couple of minutes. The facility is clean and comfortable. I am very happy with the care my dogs receive.

I took my pets to Laurelton Bayside Animal Hospital at first out of convenience, as it was about a mile from my house. I now live 45 mins away and they're still well worth the drive. The ability to text the admin staff is so convenient when you're juggling work/home tasks. I always receive quick, thorough results and advice directly from the Vet after appointments or calls. They check in on your pets aftercare, and you can just tell they're animal lovers. The care is top notch and I definitely recommend them for your fur babies!

We have taken our dog to Laurelton Bayside for nearly 15 years. He has always receive top care. They do their best to accomodate emergencies to see their patients rather than send them elsewhere. There has not been many occasions when they haven't been able to see us.

We've been taking our dogs to Laurelton Bayside for several years now. Staff is always very kind, helpful, and great with communication. Dr. Boehm is very down to earth and knowledgeable, and we appreciate his compassionate care with dogs. Would absolutely recommend!

I am very satisfied with the care my dog has received by Dr. Boehm and through all my interactions with the entire staff. I switched to Laurelton Bayside from another Webster vet owned by MVA. I had taken my dog there over 5 years and one day, she was very sick. Not only did they tell me they could not see my dog for 10 days, but they refused to even have one of the vets talk to me over the days phone and offer guidance or support. I could not believe that a vet practice could be that uncaring. I searched for a vet that was not under the MVA umbrella and found Laurelton Bayside. They reserve spots in their schedule for same day emergency visits if, unfortunately, they are ever needed. The staff is friendly and responsive. If they don't pick up when you call - they call or text back within minutes. They call and/or text when my dogs prescription is ready for pickup. My dog had to have a small procedure and their estimated cost was very accurate to my final bill. Most importantly, I feel like they care about the animals and treat the animals and owners with respect. Dr. Boehm has been very patient with my dog who can be very skittish and he was very patient with me in asking several questions regarding a potential surgery for my dog. I highly recommend.
