How to Save Money at Mattydale Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I took my bearded dragon here for a sick visit. The doctor and other staff members were very kind and caring! (**UPDATE**) 07/20/2023 I took my dog here as she was not feeling well. Dr green was quick at identifying the problem it was an emergency surgery situation she was very caring and prompt and rallied for my dog about immediately getting her on the schedule for surgery as time was critical. Dr. Karen Leshkivich was willing to perform a life saving surgery on my dog at almost no notice. I am forever grateful for this practice!! The entire staff is wonderful and very helpful. I love maddydale animal hospital. Do not hesitate to bring your fur babies here. They truly care!!

My 18 yr old daughter had a leopard gecko she loved which got sick with what looked like stick tale syndrome. She found this vet who will see exotic animals. They charged her $71 (of her hard earned money) for a visit, only to tell her the lizard looked fine (after lizard had been listless, having diarrhea, losing tail density). She brought a poop sample which they said they could not use. She asked about bringing another sample back and they told her she could if she wanted. The lizard was dead 2 days later.

Called 5 different places. They were the only vet within an hour drive that would take birds and in an emergency on such short notice that wasn't an existing patient. My female parakeet was bound with 2 eggs when she had never had eggs before after 8 years of having my birds. They got me into my appointment earlier than expected, and she's making a chipper recovery after isolating a bit in a separate cage. And the price for everything including xrays and treatment was amazingly affordable. The staff were friendly and informative, and I will definitely be keeping them as my vet and would recommend them. Such a wonderful job. (Pictured: Blue Female=Kotori, and Yellow Male=Lemon Pledge)

Been going here awhile and tried to switch vets to a closer one in Seneca Falls but was treated horrible and shamed for my dogs teeth and weight. Started making the 45min drive to continue care with this vet and they made it so worth it 😁 vet was so sweet and told me 80%of min pins have dental problems (and she's Almost 11) and that her weight was not too bad then they cleaned her teeth spotless! We are so pleased my girl is definitely happier

This hospital is not only rude! But is very dismissive! They only take care of the problem you are coming in today but not what could happen in the future. My rabbit is sick and my father called saying what can we do? The receptionist was so rude saying there was nothing they can do! Just being do rude. It's not the first time they have been so rude. But they have been doing unnecessary x-rays 110 each time. Went to another vet saying they don't need to do x-rays! Bc they can do blood work instead and find better treated that way!!!
