How to Save Money at The Sunnyside Pet Healthcare Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have never been more dissatisfied, annoyed with the services of some place as I am with this disgusting place. The disgusting, unprofessional and rude receptionists were fighting with us customers instead of answering the questions we asked about our puppies. I recently bought a puppy who is 10 weeks old and has kenel cough. I found out this diagnosis by asking Google and people who have had puppies with the same symptoms . This vet doesn't even look at you in the eye because he doesn't have the slightest empathy with animals, let alone with people. He makes you feel stupid with the questions you ask, he doesn't let you talk or ask if you have any questions. please DO NOT put your pets in the hands of this called “professional” there are many good veterinarians all over NY.

I had a horrible experience in general. The service is very unprofessional and rude. I brought my new puppy 11 weeks old because he was coughing and I asked if he is getting better after two visits and the recepcionista were rude and didn’t give me any information. They were fighting with us as costumers instead of answering my questions and concerns. The doctor was sitting in the back and never talk to us, he didn’t care even when I informed that I live in Brooklyn and taking uber back and forward is $80 and I need a diagnostic. I found out he has kennel cough because the owner of the pet store told me after I called but the vet never mentioned that. I aso asked for a pad because my puppy needed and they said they don’t have. It is ridiculous when you pay and they don’t even care about the animals. Don’t take your pets here! I am looking now for a professional vet who really cares.

This place is pretty good! I have 2 cats and had previously been seeing another vet -- 1 of my cats was breaking out in scabs and I had been told it was allergies. The original vet would not continue to prescribe my cat's medication without an allergy test and only referred me to 1 place where it would cost about $1,000 and I'd have to wait a couple months... So I tried this place -- thank god!! They were able to give her an allergy test here AND see her / do it within the month! It ended up being $465. Also, this vet FINALLY explained why the other vets were hesitant to give my cat the allergy pills -- because they were surpassing her immune system. I really appreciate that this vet has communicated clearly with me and takes good care of my cats! Although I will admit, he can be a bit curt with me and does seem to move fairly quickly through the appointment... he takes care of my cats! & For just the regular / annual office visit, they charge just $56 per each cat. Very happy with that! Other people have made comments about their prices being high, but I've found them to be better than most other places!

Idk what all the 1 star reviews are talking about, Dr. Goldenberg and his staff are super caring, patient and knowledgeable, I’ve been to 2 different vets before and this doctor isn’t different as the others, people mostly leave reviews when they really opinionated aka mad or annoyed, so listen to this review, of which I took my 3 month old puppy that he loves them bc they give him a little cheesy treat and the shots are super quick 10/10 veterinarian

Dr. Goldenberg should have his license revoked. He does not care about the animals he is treating and will happily let them die on his watch. Either he doesn't care, or he's just terrible at his job. I'm still traumatized over two years later from what he did to my poor little Fiona.
