How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I do not recommend this "hospital" to anyone. If I where able to give 0 star, I would. I dropped my dog off at 8 A.M. for a follow up on her treatment plan and it was 3:30 P.M. and I did not receive a follow up call from anyone at this facility, including the doctor. I then went to the doctors office myself to pick her up and the food that I provided them to feed her.. they gave right back to me at pick up. My dog did not eat since the night prior! What kind of treatment is this. They are quick to add unnecessary things to the invoice but take hours to answer the phone or even provide an update. They do not seem to understand the anatomy of my particular breed.

Service was quick and the staff was polite however I noticed that one of the vets that handled my dog had acrylic nails, its personally an off putting sight in a medical setting. i I had informed her about my dog's ear infection that I'd been told my he had upon my last visit and I was a little bit surprised that they didn't check his ears as a prerequisite on all visits, regardless the service was fairly good

Great place, clean, staff 👍🏾& the Vets r great. But the best part is they have a Wellness Plan & there r 3 plans from low to high. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND enrolling in a plan. You pay monthly & each plan has its particular coverage. It's not insurance I feel it's much better than insurance. And once u sign up u can use it at any Banfield 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾. I want to add after reading the negative reviews I have had 3 pets taken care of by them and I can say they are absolutely professional and kind and above board. Think about the complaints about revolving staff where does anyone stay now that is a thing of the past. I have had a Vet I always went to and I just couldn't afford the treatment at least they give you an opportunity to work with you. Give them a break I went today and without my plan my bill was 641.00 Dollars.I paid 47 bucks with my plan. When you took on your pet you became responsible for its health and well being. I bet some of you have no problem with putting money into your vehicle to keep up with the Joneses if you complain don't own a pet!

Really disappointed with the service I've received here... from start to finish. Let me start off by saying I have used Banfield's services before when I lived in Atlanta and was always pleased with the experience. So I was excited that when I moved back to New York there was a location near my home that I could take my two cats. I will say, that they neutered my kitten and the surgery went well. So far each of my cats have had one wellness visit each, and my kitten got all his shots. Throughout the entire experience it has been extremely difficult to get someone on the phone. I was not able to get explanations from the doctor for basic health questions or concerns for either of my cats when I tried to call or email. And then this last experience just threw me over the edge. On 8/19/23 I received a call from the receptionist (who I was later told is named Allison) at 8:53am asking me if I could bring my cat in earlier than my scheduled appointment at 2pm. I arrived at the "hospital" by 1:18. I checked in at the front desk and proceeded to sit in the waiting area for an hour without anyone seeing me or checking on me. By then there was a shift change at the front desk, and when I asked the front desk person to check on when I would be seen, or WHY ON EARTH you would call me to come early only to have me waiting past my original appointment time, she did not have definitive answers. Bless her - she did her best but by then I was pissed. I proceed to request to reschedule because I was annoyed and tired of waiting/watching other patients who came after me get seen. As I was leaving a vet tech, Juliet, came out and asked me if I was sure if I wanted to leave. She proceeded to throw the front desk person (Allison) under the bus and explain that the front desk person never alerted the vet team that I was checked in. TO BE CLEAR: that is worse than the original offense. Not only did you throw your co-worker under the bus... but you are admitting that the person who is responsible for checking in patients never actually checked me in?! But all of you saw me sitting there as you walked in and out and NO ONE bothered to ask if I was being helped. Juliet said she thought "i was just sitting there." I replied that it makes no sense that I would arrive and NOT check in at the front desk. I said "that is literally your job" by "your" I meant as a service provider in this establishment -- it was meant to be generic -- Juliet replies "well it's not my job". I'm SORRY - are you an employee here? Is it not your job to help the people who pay $$ and entrust you with their animals? I don't care if you do not personally sit at the front desk. Of course, she was getting defensive because I was upset. But, respectfully, I had every right to be, and her reaction to my frustration made it worse. None of this is acceptable and I have every right to be annoyed. I pay monthly into a wellness plan that I can't even use because you can never get people on the phone and when you show up the customer service is piss poor. If I could get my money back for the past year I most certainly would. As soon as I get a chance to cancel the wellness plans for BOTH of my cats I will not hesitate to do so.

Have been bringing my little girl here for about 10 years. Always a pleasant experience. Everyone helpful and professional. There is 1 female receptionist who needs to stop being rude and picking up and putting people on hold for 20 minutes plus. That is my only complaint. When the males answer you are never on hold for more then 5 minutes. But with the rude female it's like every single time you are placed on hold forever. And she is rude and should not be in customer service. I will still give 5 stars because the vets, the 2 guys that work the desk and the vet techs are all awesome.
