How to Save Money at URvet Care - Upper East Side Urgent, Primary & Speciality Upper East Side Veterinarian
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The whole staff at Ur Vet Care is amazing. From the front desk to the nurses to the doctors. They made me and my cat feel very welcomed. It’s the best service I’ve ever received from any vet Clinic. The office is very modern and it’s absolutely beautiful. I thought I was in a pediatrics office. This place is the best.

Some of the doctors are good (Dr. Lopez and Dr. Lemp) but this place is an absolute ripoff. One time I came in because I thought my dog ate a grape and they tried to charge me $1,200– I said no way. Turns out he was absolutely fine. Also the main receptionist looks at me like I don’t care about my dog when I say the price is absurd.

I am so grateful to have found URvet Care! What an amazing, caring group of professionals! While trimming my pup's fur, I accidentally snipped her tongue. I couldn't stop the bleeding and wrapped her up while looking for the closest ER online. Luckily, URvet Care was a few blocks away. As soon as I walked in, the staff immediately went to work. One took my bleeding dog to evaluate her while another took her information from me; no waiting, no hesitation. The doctor came to explain what she observed and lay out the options for me in great detail. I was given the opportunity to ask questions and never felt rushed or pushed. This was exactly the way someone hopes to be treated in a medical emergency. Sitting out in the waiting room I then noticed how beautiful the waiting room is. Everything was spotless and state of the art. The coffee maker was a huge plus during my wait. The front desk staff, the technicians, Dr. Buddendorf and Aimee Stoopler, the owner, were all wonderful towards my dog and me. We both felt taken care of which was a huge help. Thank you to everyone at URvet Care!

Everyone who works here has an amazing bedside manner! They were very attentive to our cat’s needs and reassured us that he is in very good hands. We called them a few minutes before they closed and scheduled for an appointment for 930am the next morning. Front desk staff were very helpful at making the process run smoothly We were there at 9am and they placed us in the examination room right away. Made our cat felt very calm with treats and toys before the doctor shows up. The doctors are really knowledgeable and cares about your pets. We were out of the examination room before our actual appointment. The doctor mentioned that our cat had to undergo a procedure that will be about an hour. We came back after 45 mins and was immediately attended to. Our cat was returned to us and the doctors had a brief through of how the procedure went, and prescribed our cat a few meds. The bill was affordable enough as vet invoices go.. but we had to come back again for a reexamination. They were very aware of our financial crisis and offered us a discount on our 2nd visit. We have been to 2 other vet clinics in the city and none of them are as caring, knowledgeable, and attentive as these doctors and staff at URvet Care! Thank you so much for all your help 😻

After a horrendous experience at Lenox Hill Vets, I brought my dog here as he was very sick. The staff - from the moment I first called them to when I left - were unbelievably welcoming and warm. They were very competent and my dog left feeling much better (less than an hour) than how he felt after being at the other vet all day. The staff and vets here are wonderful and really know what they are doing. I also loved how I was able to be with my dog in the exam room, which many vets don’t allow. They also didn’t upcharge me and even took more xrays than what I paid for to be extra thorough. I will be using them from now on for all my dogs needs. Thank you!!!
