How to Save Money at Riverside Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I wouldn’t trust those good reviews!!! I called to come in for vaccinations. The person on the phone suggested Saturday at 1p, I thought because it was their suggestion it would be honored. After waiting an hour plus, I asked for an estimate and was reprimanded to even suggest that could be given. Once inside I reported my upset and, since no apology or face time with the doctor given, I asked that the consultation fee be waived - as it is offered to people who give good reviews. The answer was no, so I walked. Petco has always been encouraged. So petco it is.

Best vet in the area. Always have a good experience taking my dog. They're quick to respond to schedule an appointment. They get you in and out efficiently without making you feel rushed. They give my pet what she needs, and while they may suggest other things that may be helpful for her, they're not pushy at all if you feel you don't need that extra stuff, which I've found at other vets. And if it's a busy time and you have to wait in lobby, they're attentive and communicative about what's going on and where you are in line.

Just had to leave. Brought in my dog for his yearly teeth cleaning and got an estimate that was significantly higher than expected (which unfortunately I've gotten used to). I called my wife so we could examine our past bills so I'll give you guys some numbers. Today in 2022 the procedure was about 600$ including a 100$ discount. (I do not have the exact price in front of me, I believe 630$ with an extra 29$ charge for ointment that shouldn't be included in these calculations. In 2019 this procedure was 379$ (we were billed 425 rightly so because we also got heartgard.) Also including a 100$ discount. In 2021 we got this procedure on both of our dogs minus a rabies vaccination for one of them for a total of 1000.93$ including a 200$ discount (which is consistent). This comes out to 500$ for a single procedure. Over the course of 3 years we have gone from 379$ to about 600$ which is a 58% increase in price. No amount of economic explanation makes sense of this and they jack up the price egregiously every year. It's a shame, they do good work but at some point we will all reach our limit.

We are new to the area and were in need of a vet quickly to address my pups gooey eyes. Riverside got us in next day! When we arrived a staff had us complete new client paperwork and weighed both my boys for their check-ups. We were taken back to a room within about 5 minutes, where both boys could be together. The vet and a staff person were in right away to check out the boys, prescribe an ointment and show us how to administer. They gave us the option of taking a culture now or waiting to see if the medication worked, which was appreciated. They were so great to work with, professional, explained everything clearly and most importantly my pups left happy and taken care of.
