How to Save Money at Prism Veterinary Dentistry
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Always a wonderful experience. Dr. Ford let us know when our pup was about to go under anesthesia and called after her procedure to let us know how everything went. The techs/ support staff at Prism are incredibly knowledgeable and intake and discharge was smooth and quick. I would 100% recommend Dr. Ford and the entire Prism staff to anyone whose pet needs a dental/ dental procedure. I do not know their name but both the intake and discharge technicians were fantastic and made sure all my questions were answered as well as any requests we had for her procedure was completed.

Last week was our follow-up post our Owen's dental procedure. Every time we walk into Prism it's like visiting with friends. . You are warmly greeted by KarryAnn and Krystal - They know your pet and greet them with open arms! We then met with Dr. Ford who is so kind, caring and intelligent. He has this calm demeanor with your pet that you don't often see. Our Owen actually sits calmly and listens to him. He has a way of relaxing your pet. Everyone at the practice is wonderful- whether front desk, Vet Tech or the doctor. They are an 11 out of 10 and we highly recommend.

Great service, veterinarians really care about your pets. Took both my cats for gum disease surgery. Felt very confident after initial tests and great communication - vets took time to explain everything, answered all my questions, called with follow-ups. Both cats recovered very well. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the high cost.

We brought in my dog Yoshi for a fractured tooth. We were referred by our local vet in DUMBO Brooklyn. The staff at Prism were very professional and organized. I felt like my dog was in good hands so we scheduled the surgery for a few weeks later. Despite a long wait time to surgery it was worth it, my dog came home in good condition and is on his road to recovery. Thank you to the Doctors and Nurses for being on it. Our nurse was amazing and the Doctor was great too!

Dr Ford and his team are OUTSTANDING!!! From the initial appointment to the surgical procedure to the post surgical follow up appointment, they demonstrated an incredible amount of care, professionalism, and dedication to their patient! I am blown away by their skill and their kindness! The whole team was so patient and thoughtful, understanding our worry about our pup and we’re so gentle and sweet with him. The doctor took the time to thoroughly explain the whole procedure and what was about to happen, walking us through risks and the benefits of the procedure. We were given a detailed estimate of the associated costs, and also they generously extended the rescue discount since our pup was a foster. I encourage every rescue with dental patients to just bring them to Dr. Ford!! Superb!!!!
