How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Overall I had a great experience but I still felt the need to be next to my cat the whole time. My vet is fast and great in handling emergencies right away. Yet, I still question how they monitor their pets, they seem to be glued to their computers more than checking on the pets! SO STAY THERE AND CHECK YOURSELF. Luckily my Vet was open to suggestions but I felt if I wasn’t there I wouldn’t have noticed him improving not that much. My only concern was that I had to ask her to go back on my cats records when I saw he wasn’t doing any better. This is routine practice in ALL places I have been to. So I was little surprised it wasn’t done without my suggestion. Luckily she was able to do so and the last shot which was listed in records that she gave really helped. IF YOUR PET BEEN HERE BEFORE MAKE SURE TO ASK VET TO GO BACK ON RECORDS. They have a new system that doesn’t have it readily accessible. Overall my experience was great.

We brought our cat here after she’d been in a fight with another cat and had some injuries. So impressed with this place! The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. We were brought in quickly, had a great team of techs and vet (Dr. Brady) who all showed great care not just for the cat but also for me and my daughter. They explained everything clearly, made us a part of the decisions, and offered us to watch everything and ask them any questions. Had excellent discharge instructions and follow up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Thank you VEG

I am a medical physician. I found Dr. Tracy to be compassionate, and knowledgeable. She is an impressive veterinary physician. Her emergency skills far exceed those that I have witnessed in the past at other emergency rooms. My dog was treated so well, he recovered even faster than anticipated. The photo of my dog was taken only 36 hours after treatment.

My mom and I brought our dog Bailey to VEG in July around 2:00am during a terrible thunderstorm. We were desperate for a miracle, but being 15 years old, with heart, liver, kidney, eye, and every other disease you can think of, we knew that our odds were not good. Our vet was compassionate, kind, and understanding. She laid out all the options (none of which were good, and all of which would prolong his suffering). I asked her what she would do if Bailey was her dog, and she said that she would lay him to rest. My mom and I agreed - euthanasia was the right thing to do. The vet spent 20 minutes explaining the procedure to us and telling us that we were in no rush, and we could stay as long as we liked. Bailey was the first dog my mom and I ever had - and this was the hardest decision we've ever had to make. But VEG made it easier. The rooms there have couches, blankets, and cute pictures. It seems like you're in a living room. The receptionists and nurses brought us tea and water and extra blankets so we could snuggle. They kept telling us "we're open 24/7, so take as much time as you need - we will never rush you". We felt supported and loved. It was bright and clean and comfortable, and we were able to be on a couch together while we said goodbye. Afterwards, they provided us with paw prints and some fur, which was very nice. Losing a member of your family is terrible, but I wanted to write this review to let you know that if you have to go through it, you can trust that the staff at VEG will make your experience as comfortable as possible. We left around 5:00am, without our boy, but we were glad to know that his last moments were with very kind and loving individuals.

The whole staff was kind, compassionate, and most importantly understanding. My young pup ate something she was not suppose to and I was hesitant to come in due to my financial situation, but they were very understanding and worked something out with my pup and I and they we’re able to treat her! I cannot thank you guys enough for all that you did for my pup and I. Amazing service!
