How to Save Money at Mineola Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Very well run facility. Quick, efficient, and informative. Great price and availability as well. Felt very comfortable brining my puppy Ares. They took great care of him, and he seems to be doing great. Thank you for everything .

Dr Mazolla and her staff are incredible. They provided my Rottweiler with safe, compassionate care. Hans wanted no part of their help and the staff knew exactly how to handle him. Thank you so much for making my pup feel better. I would highly recommend this veterinary office.

So we had another Vet we used to go to (Banfield). Recently, our puppy Juliette was not doing well - not eating and very lethargic. We were really concerned. And our prior vet just would not make time for us even though we tried for 2 days. Then we called Mineola Animal Hospital. Despite being new clients, they took us right away. And more importantly, they made our puppy feel better (who was clearly in a lot of pain). Everyone was so nice to us - even carried her to and from our car. And the veterinarian was so sweet - took plently of time to explain everything to us. Not rushed. This is our new place - we highly recommend it!!

My daughters took our dog in to see Dr. Deme because our dog was not sleeping, was pacing all night long, and was just not acting normal. We figured that it was an ear infection, because this had happened once before. Dr. Deme checked his ears and said it's not an ear infection. He claimed it was anxiety. He prescribed a medication, and when they asked him what the medication was, he looked it up on Google. Two days later, after the pill did not work, my daughter called the office and asked to bring the dog back to see Dr. Deme because she felt it really had to be an infection in his inner ear. Dr. Deme was rather rude and told her that his ears look clear otherwise they would be red. He then told her that it may be a neurological issue. My daughter had explained that this had happened once before to him, and it was his inner ear and asked if he could please give him an antibiotic. After arguing with her, he did agree to clean the ears, and give our dog an antibiotic. It was a little strange to her, that he took the dog in another room, to clean the ears and give the antibiotic and would not let her be present. Why she wasn't allowed to watch, is beyond us. Over $300 later, and after he listened to my daughter, the dog is now back to his normal self and sleeping with no issues. It just amazes me that my daughter diagnosed the dog better than the doctor. The bedside manner was unacceptable. Had he looked into the records of our dog, he would've seen that this issue had happened in the past, and maybe it would've been taken care of the first time instead of having to spend money on another appointment two days later. This experience was just awful, and we will not be bringing our dog back there. We would never put our dog through that again; Very unprofessional!

The staff was amazing, this place marks every check off the list for a remarkable experience with your pets at the vet. Examinations were spot on and nothing beats the price. On top they gave us so many free samples I couldn't believe how nice everyone was. Thank you!
