How to Save Money at Forest Hills Cat Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I loved this place, they are very professional. The doctor has a lot of patience and love with cats. I found it incredible that my cat, who doesn't like strangers, came out of the case by herself. I was in shock bc at other vets she wouldn't even let them do a checkup. The doctor took all the time in the world to gain my cat's trust with a treat and she came out by herself. My cat was so calm and relaxed, she felt at home... and the check-up was done without anesthesia. 🙏🏻 I will definitely bring my 2 cats here.

I recently took my cat, Rosie, to Forest Hills Cat Hospital and had the pleasure of being helped by Dr. Victoria Shehery. She was outstanding. Dr. Shehery took her time to thoroughly diagnose Rosie, showing exceptional care and dedication. She stepped out of her way to ensure Rosie received the best treatment possible. Additionally, the entire staff at the hospital was amazing. They were all friendly, professional, and truly caring. I am incredibly grateful for their help and highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a compassionate and skilled veterinary team.

I appreciate the kindness of the staff at this office, but I am deeply upset with my recent experiences. I had to put my cat Morrison to sleep due to extreme mouth ulcer pain. I felt that Dr. Tuzio's communication was lacking. If Morrison's kidney levels made him prone to ulcers, that should have been communicated to me from the first visit. I watched my cat struggle to eat for almost three weeks, thinking he just didn't like his new diet. When he began making sounds with his teeth I knew something else was wrong. Two days after calling the office, they asked me to come in because the doctor suspected mouth ulcers. By then, Morrison had poor nutrition due to the lack of eating and the delayed response from the office. It turns out the front desk had the wrong phone number on file. During the visit, they did blood work, and I requested IV hydration for Morrison, but Dr. Tuzio denied it due to his anemia. They gave me several medications to take home, which I believe made him worse. He didnt eat anything and stopped drinking water, and at this point, he looked like he was dying. I called the next day around noon for guidance, but Dr. Tuzio was not in, and the front desk told me I would get a call from another doctor which never happened. I called again early the next morning (48hrs later )and finally got an urgent call back from Dr. Tuzio, who recommended hospitalizing Morrison on IV for 48 hours. My point is that the office and Dr. Tuzio need to improve their communication system for emergencies like Morrison's. Unfortunately, his kidney levels kept rising, and the emergency vet told me that keeping him alive under extensive care would only prolong his suffering. I hope this office can fix these errors and better organize their communication for future patients. As a pet parent who trusted the vet with my fur baby and had never experienced a pet loss before, an empathetic call or email from Dr Tuzio would have been appreciated. This lack of communication showed me that she did not care about my cat, and now I don't feel comfortable bringing in my other cat in for care.

The best Vet Dr. Sheheri, Assistants Theresa and Liz we have ever encountered. Our cats were traumatized and frightened and they were able to calm, examine and give them their vaccines. We’re so happy with the care we received. I would recommend the Cat hospital to everyone, but especially scaredy cats!
