How to Save Money at Woodside Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I take my 1 year old Russian Blue. Dr Zemana is the best doctor ever!! He takes his time to evaluate and treat. He addresses all of my concerns no matter how many questions I have. He always makes me feel safe to bring my pet. I really love how flexible the office is. They never turn away any patients and offer same day appointments. Doctor zemana always makes sure I understand his recommendations. If I’m on the fence about any treatment he will never force a patient to go through with it. He always makes sure each patient knows they have a choice in treatment it’s not like other spots who treat your pets without consulting you and then BAM you suddenly owe thousands of dollars. THANK U SO MUCH WOODSIDE PET HOSPITAL!!!

I went to take my cat to get her eye checked because I believed she had an infection. They front desk staff was very nice and attentive, she was taken right away and was out in less than an hour ! I paid less than what I expected which was good too and they gave me medicine for her eye , which worked right away ! Her eye was back to normal the next day ! Would highly recommend this place .

This vet is the best! Our puppy had some really bad allergies and within hours of leaving the vet, his symptoms improved so much. Alyssa, the person who worked the front desk, was so kind and made me and my partner feel comfortable. Definitely coming back in the future.

I took my 8month American bully here last week because she had a rash on her belly, the visit was relatively quick and easy. I left her there & she was done within an hour. The Dr prescribed her a few different medications to take for the next couple of days and so far I’ve seen major improvements in her behavior and the rash is almost entirely gone! Thank you Woodside pet hospital. I will definitely be going back if any future problems arise.

I have only had one dealing with this veterinary practice so please take my comments with a grain of salt. The reason for my low rating is because I encountered a very dysfunctional appointment this past week. I needed an International Health Certificate for my dog to travel to Colombia - I called and scheduled an appointment with Daniela exactly 11 days before my travel date. The exam and certificate both have to be within 10 days of travel so I was given an appointment seven days before my flight. I show up for our appointment an time and fill out all of my paperwork including flight destination and details. There is no waiting room so I bide the next hour and half at a coffee shop across the street. A few phone calls are exchanged during my wait to confirm information and give me the pricing including trying to upsell me on $120 in services that were unnecessary for entry into Colombia (heartgard and an antiparasitic) which I declined. 20 minutes later, and after more than an hour and a half total of waiting The office manager calls me back and tells me that they cannot issue the certificate in time for my travel which is still seven days away. This of course left me scrambling to find another vet which I did - Heights Animal Hospital on 73rd St in Jackson Heights. Not only do they accommodate me The same day but there was no of selling me of any unnecessary services and I was in and out within 20 minutes. I would avoid this practice if you need time sensitive care.
