How to Save Money at Maspeth Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I’ve had to take my puppy here 8 times in less than a year for check ups and vaccinations. Every single time myself and my dog Madison have been treated with such kindness and genuine care by all of the staff members. I’d recommend Maspeth Animal Hospital to anyone and everyone that needs a new safe place to take their pets.

My dogs anal glands bursted and I was so worried. The both veterinarians and the staff were very caring and were able to squeeze me in for a last minute appointment. Even tho I waited a lot I appreciate the work they did on my baby Louie. He is recovering now and he is feeling much better. The anal glands are slowly closing. I was so stressed out and im so glad they were able to help us. Thanks so much to everyone at this location. Definitely recommend this place !

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! The doctors and the staff are amazing and they deserve way more recognition. The way they care for your pet is amazing! I initially contacted the office on a Thursday evening my dog at that time had a possible Pyometra however, it wasn’t officially diagnosed the previous vet we were in was waiting on one more test. Just by sending the X-ray the Dr. said it indeed was it and urge me to come in to perform the surgery mind you it was already like 5pm. I decided to wait it out until the next day when the results came in and I called to see if I could bring her in Saturday morning asap no hesitation at all. Mind you all the other offices I had previously called gave me so many excuses and PRICE for this surgery was insane. At Maspeth Animal Hospital they did the surgery for a way reasonable price. I was afraid I was going to loose my baby because I wouldn’t be able to afford the surgery however, the doctors at this office made it possible for us to move forward with it. They SAVED MY GIRLS LIFE. She’s doing amazing. 🙏🏼

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional service I received everytime I visit their clinic. The veterinary team were both professional and compassionate, taking the time to answer all of my questions and address every concern I had about my senior dog's health. What really stood out to me was the extra effort that was made to make my pet feel comfortable during their examination. The team was patient, gentle, and handled my pet with care. Communication is key, and the follow-up instructions and care information that was provided to me were clear and comprehensive, ensuring that I was fully informed about my pet's health and any necessary treatment. They don't force unneccesary procedures or meds just to make money like other clinics do. The only issue I have is a hit or miss on street parking, lol. I don't even live local, but I believe going here is worth it. The experience I had with the vet left me feeling confident that my pet is receiving the best possible care. Thank you for going above and beyond in every way possible. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who are in need of reasonably priced high-quality veterinary care.

The waiting area and the rooms are clean. Super friendly staff. They listen to you and does their best to accommodate your requests. And let's not forget Dr. Henin and Allam. They're the best! You can bring your furry family member here worry free. Also they take grooming appointments. Can't say how it is as I've only made one so far for my 1yo Maltese who was due for a summer cut. It turned out great but can't say how it'll be for other styles. Overall, I've been coming here for 1+ years and they have yet to let me or my pups down. Highly recommend.
