How to Save Money at URvet Care Astoria
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This place is incredible, from the attention, the professionalism, the beautiful and clean place and how informative they are with everything. I love it. My dog had his neutering surgery here and we really liked it. The doctor was very informative with everything and kept us update by phone call with how our dog was doing and when we arrived to pick him up he came out to talk to us and explain every detail and everything we would have to do. Definitely highly recommended and I would return here once again.

I’ve been taking my pets to Urvet, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the care they’ve provided. Dr. Lemp, in particular, has been amazing. He did everything he could to help my beloved Max, and though Max didn’t make it, I appreciated how dedicated and compassionate Dr. Lemp was through that difficult time. Now, with my two new kittens, Oreo and Leo, Dr. Lemp has continued to provide incredible care. He’s knowledgeable and attentive, especially with their complex health issues. I always feel like they’re in great hands. The rest of the staff and doctors are also so kind and welcoming, making every visit a positive experience. I highly recommend Urvet for anyone looking for expert and compassionate care for their pets!

Brought my pup in on a Monday evening around 8 pm with some breathing trouble and congestion. The staff was all super friendly to both me and my pup. The vet was reassuring and gave great directions on the medicine they were giving me to give my pup at home and other things I could do at home to help my pup be more comfortable. My only slight negative comment is that some more sound proofing or at least some white noise machines might be a good idea. You can hear the conversation in the next room over as the vet could be counseling the next family on something seriously wrong with their pet. It also might be nice to have more than one seat in the exam rooms in case a family has more than one human, on in my case, my pup stole the stool to relax on while we waited!

After a true 24 hour nightmare at Bond Vet in Astoria, Urvetcare came to the rescue! I called upset, and the girl on the phone was kind, and listened. She offered me options and prices, answered all my questions, and didn’t pressure me to book an appointment. Later, I walked over to check out the space and it was beautiful! As soon as I said my name and my dog’s name, I was greeted warmly and the front desk remembered details about my dog from my phone call earlier. Their late hours are so convenient and I was able to get my pup scheduled for the next day. The assistant and vet were incredible! Dr. Brendan Lemp spoke to me in detail about my dog’s condition and every option she and I had. He spent time teaching me information my last vet had never mentioned and answered every question I could think of! He gave me price points for everything as we spoke, so I could make informed decisions about my dog’s care. After the exam and bloodwork, I went to the lobby to pay. He came back out to tell me he was going to get a specialist specifically for next steps and provided multiple options to help fit in my schedule. I couldn’t be more grateful that I found intelligent, compassionate veterinarians in Astoria who really advocate for the animal and keep the owner so informed! Lucy and I feel extremely lucky!

My family’s experience here was amazing! It was our first time ever with Urvet Care, and the service we received was very good! Nurse Dashawn was extremely welcoming and comforted both our cat and us during the visit. Dr. Eugene referred us to the Urvet Care in Manhattan, and gave us a full walkthrough of what would happen when we arrived there and what procedure our cat would go through. We felt very welcomed and attended to, and will definitely be coming back in the future if needed to
