How to Save Money at InstaVet Urgent Care & Wellness Animal Hospital - LIC Queens Pet Surgery Medical Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I’d rate this practice a 4.5*. I have two senior dogs and two young cats and sometimes I’m at the vet 2x in the same week with multiple issues. The customer service is great, the manager Eli personally reaches out often to make sure we are all well care for, reception girls are lovely, nurses the same. I now met a lot of the vets, all of them with one exception were caring and outstanding. During my first well being visit, I got a multiple pet discount which was nice. Also a free X-ray for my dog with heart disease. My fur babies are everything to me so I expect nothing short of perfect care for them, I’m crazy demanding and I have been happy with this clinic since moving to the area. Again the 0.5 point shortage in the rating is for my one off bad experience with one vet (which I can easily avoid) and sometimes a major delay/ waiting time when my schedule is super tight. Still I know I’ll stick to this practice as I can always get an appointment and the care meets my expectations. Some of the vets are truly outstanding (sorry I’m bad with names, wish I could quote them). Confident in recommending them even if I find it pricey, I think I get what they charge for.

I had to go to instavet last Monday because my 15 year cat had eaten a rubber band. Threw it up but was now lethargic, not eating and had diarrhea. Each day I went there a totalnof 3 days we were handled very well. The staff is very nice and kind to you and your pet. They accept walk ins and emergencies. They even provide discounting for your visits. Dr. Sheintop, Dr. Nelson, Dr. Kim are amazing and did everything that was needed and that they could tonensure my cat "leo" was on a path back to wellness. Caley at the front desk was very attentive to my email and support requests. Eli in customer service was also very attentive to my needs and was able to help with the costs. Good news is that my cat is back to normal and on a new diet to help him to continue in our lives for more years to come. I appreciate all of the help, advice, medical care and more that instavet has provided us. I highly recommend visiting them if your pet needs anything. I will continue to use their services for sometime to come. Thank you instavet and staff. We appreciate you more than you know. Leia yodice and leo

I had to euthanize my baby boy, Remy. He was 14 yrs old, and he would have been 15 yrs old November 28. He was in so much pain that I had to put him to sleep. The staff was very supportive and comforting. I am so happy I found this office. It was my first time here, and the reception I received was impeccable. They explained everything and I was texted with the same information given to me verbally. I highly recommend this place. Now I will bring my baby girl for her vaccines and annual exam. Thank you for making the process easier.

I took my rescue kitten found in Puerto Rico to Instavet for an eye infection and follow up visit. I chose to book with Instavet for a couple of reasons, 1. They offer free parking or they will pay for your Uber to one of their locations on your first visit. 2. They offer a 10% discount for rescued animals on your first visit. The visit surpassed my expectations. The clinic is very clean, bright, and colorful. The front desk staff is great! Dr. Ghangsa Kim is phenomenal! He is very friendly and professional. He gave us a lot of information to help us understand her conditions and provided a great plan. He was very gentle during the exam. I could tell that he loves animals. Daysi liked him too. She was very calm in his presence. UPDATE: We went for Daysi's 2nd visit yesterday. We really love Dr. Kim. He's great with her and gives us great care plans. Olivia and Valentina were her nurses and they were AMAZING! They were both great with the kitten and Valentina even gave her a little kiss. It was such a great visit. We love Instavet!

My cat Cosmo had a urinary blockage emergency, and the vets and staff at instavet took such great care of him and brought him back to health! My boy had to stay overnight but I was greeted with multiple updates on cosmo’s health, and I felt assured he was being taken care of well! Thank you instavet!
