How to Save Money at Alliance Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This veterinary office is AMAZING! We are so glad we switched to them years ago based off a recommendation from a family member. They always try their best to fit us in when our dog has any issues. You can tell they all really love working with animals and truly care for the animals and their families.

Diagnosed our dog last year with diabetes and provided absolutely no after care for instructions on how to dose him with the proper amount of insulin. No pamphlets, no education, no method to check his blood sugar on a regular basis. This resulted in us mis-dosing him for months, despite us doing exactly what we were told to do, with no education on possible modifications based on his weight/how much he ate/etc. This resulted in our otherwise healthy dog going into diabetic ketoacidosis at age 7, which resulted in liver failure. We had to put him down. This vet is a disgrace and they don't care about your animals. We took all of our other pets here but we will surely not be making that mistake again. Shameful.

The lovely staff of Alliance Animal Hospital have been the most wonderful to work with. Our dear pup developed EPI after battling terrible bouts of pancreatitis (twice in the span of two months). Alliance worked tirelessly to determine the cause of her ailments, and supported us every step of the way as she recovered. If it weren’t for them, I don’t think our fearless Eloise would still be with us.

NEVER take your pet here if you want them to stay healthy. They will force every test, vaccine and drug in the world just to make a buck. Remember a sick pet is a profitable pet, that’s their motto! They are very unethical IMO and they are the reason my perfectly healthy dog declined to his death in a matter of months! . I DONT trust them and I would never recommend them to anyone! They have no compassion and their staff has poor communication skills. We have always given the best food and care to our furbabies- they make u feel guilty for not wanting to poison them with their medicines or extensive testing- which is also BS. Never again. Now my boy is gone and it’s truly my fault for entrusting them with his life when I was also warmed by many, many people how bad they are. Find another vet if you love your pets.

Hi! My name is Mugzy and my Mom is typing this for me. I used enter a room my breathing was so loud that everyone turned to see and if people's came to pet me I would get so excited but then my tongue would turn blue and I would gag and sometimes throw up my food.😔 I love chasing balls but that would also make me gag and puke too. My Mom was always trying to keep me calm cause she was very afraid that I might aspirate. So even though she was very worried to let me have any kind of surgery (cause us Bulldogs don't do well at times w anesthesia cause we are brachiaphalic) she knew my quality of life wasn't right! So off to Alliance Animal Hospital we went to see our favorite surgeon Dr Gray! Dr Gray loves me and I love her...Just Sayin!! She changed my world!!!! I run and play like a ROCKSTAR NOW!!! No more loud breathing, no more puking, I can gulp down my water without it coming back up and most of all my poor momma knows I am safe from aspiration and that I have a better quality of life now!!! Thank You so much Dr Gray and crew!! We want all bully Mom's n Dad's to trust Dr Gray and her team at Alliance! They took great care of me! Love n Licks MUGZY
