How to Save Money at Hamburg Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Hamburg is very expensive, yes but I've had experiences with ear cropping at 3 other vets and hamburg is by far the best. I own Cane Corso Italianos. Unfortunately she was unable to get me in recently which is a huge disappointment. I would avoid hilton at all cost. Hamburg is worth the extra cost.

I highly recommend Hamburg Veterinary Clinic for veterinary care. My pets have been seen by Dr. Bugenhagen and her staff for years. I most recently had a total of five pets -two elderly/sick cats who both died within the last year and three dogs- all of which have had varied ongoing medical needs and require more frequent veterinary care, as well as special diets and medications. Whether it is a phone call, vet visit, or running in to pick up foods and meds, each and every person in this practice is extremely knowledgeable and professional; but most importantly, they are kind and compassionate and truly love animals. I trust Dr. Bugenhagen and her staff to provide the highest quality care I expect and deserve for my fur babies and I am never disappointed, you won't be either and your pets will love them!

I brought my precious 13 year old dog in for the first time today and everyone was absolutely amazing. The staff was so caring and the doctor was extremely helpful and explained my dog’s situation in a way I could easily understand. She was very helpful with any questions and concerns I had. Everyone was also very professional concerning the current Covid regulations. I called the office once I arrived then waited in my car for the appointment to be done. The doctor then talked to me over the phone and again was very patient, easy to talk to and to understand. I was also very pleased with the pricing. I would highly recommend.

The doctors and staff are all very knowledgeable and their compassion for animals is apparent the minute you walk into the office. They were able to quickly and accurately diagnose and correctly treat a vestibular issue in my daughter’s dog. During the recent illness and subsequent death of my dog they could not have been more empathetic. Both Dr. B and Dr. K have the well-being of your dog as their first priority.

I’ve been coming here with my 4 year old boxer Montana for 3 years now and doctor B and the staff are AMAZING. They really care about the animals they treat. I live in the city of Buffalo and I travel to this vet because their so caring in comparison to my local vets. It’s a little of a wait to be seen sometimes because they take their time with the animals they see to ensure the best service. It shows their level of care for these animals. I never mind waiting because the service is exceptional and you won’t get that anywhere else (their never very long either 5 or 10 minutes at most). It’s also a small vet office but that makes the level of care even better as well. Their TRULY TRULY TRULY so compassionate and caring for every animal they see. My dog also gets VERY happy when I say we’re going to the vet lol. Thank you Hamburg Veterinarian clinic you guys are beyond beyond beyond amazing.
