How to Save Money at Glen Cove Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Came from Brooklyn to get our German shepherd mix spayed. They did such a great job with her, we have no complaints at all. The front desk lady is my hero- she seemed to be on top of everything despite it clearly being a busy clinic and she still managed to give us as much attention as we needed. She even gave some advice about how her dog behaved when she got her dog done, which we really appreciated. Thank you so much to all of you at Glen Cove Animal Clinic for providing an affordable option for quality care.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I waited a year to write this review to calm down after what they did, but I can't. I brought in an abandoned kitten who had three legs. The first vet told me to wait two months for his surgery. I came here to wrap his leg since he was walking on his bone; he was very mobile. The doctor picked him up and looked at him without being careful. He told me he was ready for surgery in two days. I told him no that he wasn't prepared and too young. He was just a couple of weeks old, and his eyes still weren't open. WITHOUT WEIGHING him, he gave him medication. Within 24 hours, he died. I woke up to his poor little dead body. He had me pay for a big bottle of medicine that was $80, and he would only need two little syringes. They never took the blame or apologized. After the medication, he wasn't mobile and slept a lot, which was unlike him. The doctor didnt care and said it must've been something else. They charged me for a check-up, but he only picked him up like a doll. He didnt even WIGHT HIM. I work with guests all day, bringing this situation up so people never go here. This still breaks my heart to pieces. Animals do so well with only three legs, and this kitten was so happy and always climbed all over me. I saved his life just for this place to kill him. DISGUSTINGGG.

It was pretty far out, however the price was great especially now during these times. My cat Ginger was spayed. The team took her in right away, they were polite and explained everything to me. And they gave me a number I could call with any concerns after hours.

We’d like to thank the stellar team for making our visit very pleasant and seamless. Having traveled from Manhattan by public transportation, they were incredibly thoughtful to schedule our 8 month old boy quickly so we didn’t have to spend the day walking around until late in the day. Milo came out of surgery/neutered and chipped with a wagging tail! The team was super busy and personable and really cared to make him comfortable! I loved that they called and kept me updated on his progress throughout the morning at each stage….and the red bandanna was super sweet on his cone. So lucky to have found them especially with the high demand this year for these services…it was impossible in Feb to find a neutering appt in NYC before Aug/Sept and at a fair and reasonable cost. It was worth every mile!

Very happy with the service, it went as promised, thank God the wait wasn't long, place although small was very clean, didn't have any bad smells. The staff was very professional and got a phone call early the next morning to check on my pet status which was a nice touch. I definately will be using them again and will recommend to family & friend.
