How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

NEVER AGAIN in my life would I spend another damn dime with this place if I could give them zero stars I would. Took my baby to get his teeth cleaned and a tooth extraction and they gave me back my dog wit dirty teeth an the tooth that needed to be extracted still in his mouth. An to top off upon looking at my dog I found a second that needed to be pulled. SMFH. $700 for what my babies teeth is still blasted dirty and not very clean as they should be when cleaned. Even tho some of the staff was understanding they still did NOT address the negligence.DR. Suzanne Yiseral needs to be held accountable for her stupidity and she got the nerve to call herself a vet that cares. They didn’t even offer me a refund seeing is that I have to take my dog to get a proper cleaning else where.

Yesterday was the first time I had been to this Banfield location the staff was so friendly & professional. Liz the receptionist was very nice.I will continue to go to this location. My fur baby is a toy poodle that is 10 years old that needed vaccines so it was all done within 15 minutes. No long wait which was great

I’m not one to make a big stink out of nothing, but I will always put my dogs needs first. This is my first time visiting this location of Banfield. I called (multiple times) and someone over the phone (after I told them who my dog) was said I was free to pick up her Perscription at any time. I go to get it and then they tell me she actually needs to come in so they can weigh her for the correct weight limit. That’s fair, but no indication of this over the phone. So I make the appointment, a “drop off” after they tell me they don’t take in person appointments. The man I spoke to was very nice, but again not informative of what this actually entails. They made my drop off appointment for 8am. when I arrived they THEN informed me the doctor doesn’t get in until 9:30 and I can’t pick her up until past 2pm. For a comprehensive exam? Never in my life of owning dogs and bring them to vets have I ever heard of leaving a dog in a crate for hours on end w waiting to be seen? It makes no sense. Why have the appointment set up at all then? Really big red flags. I was super uncomfortable with this and they made me feel ridiculous and uncomfortable for not wanting my dog to sit by herself in a doctors office all day. Really awful that this is normal practice as well. I understand having a drop off but there’s no reason I should have to leave her there all day. I was not confident they would even let her out to use the bathroom. She’s a puppy. The woman at the front was also incredibly rude and dismissive. They made me feel bad for not wanting to put my dog through that. Will not be returning and would not recommend.

Don’t let the word Hospital fool you I was told they do not see patients as walk in since they are not an urgent care. So don’t assume they are an animal hospital according to the name. Despite having scheduled an appointment that they couldn’t find in their system they wanted to treat me as a walk in and may or may not see my dog today “because they couldn’t take staff away from other cases”. I even showed the receptionist proof of my appointment on my cellphone and he didn’t honor it cus it wasn’t in his system. Unheard of. Staff had no compassion and sent my sick dog away. I wouldn’t ever visit again the vibe from the staff was unwelcoming. The guy didn’t even want my dog to come near him as if he did like animals working at an animal “hospital”. And if it’s anymore helpful I’m African American. I went a few minutes away to Bondvet and the place and the staff was lovely. We was seen as a walk in and out in about 2 hours. Considering my dog had to be sedated for procedure that is remarkable timing.

Love them! I’ve had 3 pups & all three pups have been under their wellness care package. It’s been about 15 years and they never fail! The drop off option is amazing if your schedule is hectic. They call to inform you of any diagnosis or before giving medication. Had an instance where one of my dogs had a slight fever , we used the virtual vet they offer through the app for guidance and once 8am hit and we were getting a call asking how my pet was doing and provided us with appointments to be seen. The prices are not crazy like some local vets. I’ve been to this location , Levittown , Farmingdale and Commack location and they’re all great! (They’re all 15-20 min away from us)
