How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We have never gone to an Emergency Animal Hospital in the past 20 years with our other 3 dogs. It was our first experience with our 1 1/2 yr old Beagle mix. What a relief to have this available especially after hours. The first time she was limping and was unable to put weight on her front left leg, the second time it was because she was very sick and lethargic. When we arrived they took her temperature and she had 105 temperature. The Vet's that we saw were wonderful, caring and very through with the examines. They were accommodating for a phone call in the middle of the night with my concerns and questions. And our beloved pup is all better, thankfully from the care, treatment and medicine we received.

I cannot say enough about this amazing facility. Our senior cat was having a diabetic emergency at 2 a.m. I was totally overwhelmed since of course our usual vet was closed at that hour, but the compassionate and patient staff of VEG walked me through all of the options without ever making me feel pressured and took the time to answer all of my questions. I loved that I was able to be our pet’s side the entire time they were evaluating him and starting treatment. I left our kitty knowing he was in good hands. I was so impressed by the communication VEG had with me, as well as how accommodating they were when I called for updates. My husband was even able to visit our kitty later that day. Thankfully, we were able to bring our cat home and he is doing well so far. He truly is a beloved family pet, and no matter how much longer we have with our little guy I am truly grateful for the compassion VEG showed us in our time of need, as well as for these extra snuggles my kids are enjoying with our kitty thanks to the dedicated staff. I can’t express how impressed I was by how much VEG empowers the pet owner as a partner in their pet’s recovery and care. Everyone from the front desk to the vets to the techs provided the most amazing experience, and we are forever grateful!

I had an amazing experience with this place. My dog was extremely sick and hadn’t eaten in two days and wouldn’t stop throwing up. All of the staff here took amazing care of my dog and did a great job communicating with us. We got to stay with my dog the entire time which was also a plus. They were extremely attentive, thorough and caring. I would recommend this place to everyone.

They were very kind & respectful with our family when we sent our last kitty of 4 over the Rainbow Bridge. Fatty was 14 years old. His Mom (Momma Kitty) was 15 years old when we brought her here to go to the Bridge last January.

I was recommended to go here by my friend Emily. And I’m so happy I chose this vet. Everyone from the front staff to the the nurses and doctors were an absolute pleasure. They were calm and knowledgeable. Super clean and modern facility as well. I felt heard and it was so fast and they didn’t do anything for my puppy indigo that she didn’t need unlike other places I been to in the past. I will never go anywhere else in an emergency. I was in there maybe 1/2 an hr. Triaged, X-rays, exam and diagnosed. I love it here! Thank you guys!!!💜
