How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This place was amazing. I had taken in my seven month old kitten After previously taking him to his vet Where he stayed from Wednesday to Friday. My vet told me he had a urinary blockage Which reoccur occurred twice while he was there. They basically sent him home on Friday because they close over the weekend. Handed me an emergency list of places to call. Gave me prescription medicine and sent me on my way. Well, it occurred again last night so we drove out to To Buffalo as our Rochester location was at max capacity. The vet here was amazing and she was actually able to figure out what the true issue was which my vet failed to do. We were there for about 4 1/2 hours which is to be expected when you take your pet to an emergency place. The vet was able to answer all of my questions and concerns and I was actually going to send all of the information over to my cats vet. They kept me informed throughout my time there Then I would highly recommend this place. If my pets have any issues in the future, I will definitely head back here

I can't say enough good things about our experience here. I rushed my three-year-old Golden Retriever in last night after fearing she had bloated (GVD) during a training class. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly efficient and compassionate. They took her back immediately and began running diagnostics right away. Within just 30 minutes, we had a clear diagnosis along with several treatment options—each explained thoroughly and offered at different price points. This allowed us to make the best choice for our pup while staying within our budget. After going over our treatment plan, our pup was ready to come home with us! Every single person we interacted with was kind, professional, and clearly cared deeply about both our dog and our experience. From the front desk team to the vet techs, and especially Dr. M—everyone was amazing. What could have been a terrifying night was made manageable and even comforting thanks to their expertise and empathy. We’re so grateful for the care they provided and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care.

This past St. Patrick's Day, our beloved Bronson suffered an unexpectant and tragic event. I came home to him unable to open his eyes, convulsing. We brought him to Blue Pearl and after a short time he sadly passed away. We just wanted to thank Dr. Doyle and the staff for the care and attention that they gave him and kindness they showed to us. We're really hurting right now but will cherish the love and memories Bronson gave us and for BluePearl for helping in his last moments.

Several days ago I brought by beloved fifteen year old Chihuahua Chloe to BluPearl, as her kidney failure quickly exacerbated and we had no choice but to put her to rest. I arrived without an appointment and everyone, from the receptionist to the vet tech to the doctor were beyond kind, caring, compassionate and respectful. Much to my surprise, I was also greeted by a social worker, whose name is Sue, and who is nothing short of an angel on earth! Sue sat with me as I held my beautiful peanut as she drifted asleep and crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully. While it was one of the hardest things I have had to do, and while no one wants to face that day, the folks at Blu Pearl were absolutely incredible, and I am beyond grateful to them.
