How to Save Money at VERG
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Despite it being the worse day of my life, VERG made it that much better. They did everything they possibly could to keep my baby alive, and made him as comfortable and pain free as they could throughout the entire process. Despite it being a very busy night, they got us the care we needed as soon as they could, and treated every patient that walked in as if they were their own pet. They gave me as much time as needed to spend my last moments with Tommy, kept him relaxed, and ultimately sent him away gracefully. I am eternally grateful for how much care they gave my little guy and how much support and embrace they gave me in the hard time. They were completely transparent and communicative with everything. Based on all the happy faces and wagging tails leaving throughout my two days there, it seems they see a lot of happy endings. And I can certainly see why. I am eternally grateful to the entire staff there.

Highly upset and disappointed. I brought my 11 year old dog Princess here to get euthanized due to cancer. The doctor who euthanized my dog was sweet and reassuring. It made the process so much easier. I paid for and requested a paw clay mold so that we can have being that she was the family dog. After almost a month of not hearing back from them to pick up the paw clay mold, I decided to give them a call. They were not able to locate my dogs clay mold. The reason why, because they never placed the order for it to be done. Sadly, my dog has already been cremated. Instead of having something that my family and I can remind us of our dog, Princess, we now only have pictures and memories. It's completely unacceptable. Finding this out was very hurtful and upsetting. I hope no one else goes through this. We love and miss you Princess. Love always 🖤🫶🏽.

I am eternally grateful for the entire staff at VERG . I have had a genuine full circle experience here for 2 polar opposite types of visits: 1) in September of 2022, I unfortunately had to put my shih tzu companion of 14.5 years to sleep.Everyone from the staff that booked me to the medical professional that provided that heartbreaking service were empathetic warm, understanding and professional from booking until I left the practice in mental pieces that day (and throughout the week after!) They were collectively EPIC. 2) Fast forward to yesterday's visit. I got to the point that I was ready to get a pet again. I was too heartbroken to get another dog and decided on a hypoallergenic breed of rescue kitten. From the day I adopted her in Feb, she had a pesky lingering blocked sounding nose, after several visits and a variety of treatments from my main vet, she decided I needed to take Heather to an internist and recommended VERG. Doctor Cook, was AMAZING. She explained her assessment of possible causes for my cats congestion, options I can go with as well as pros cons and possibilities of what may occur within each procedure option in the most clear and understandable way, which helps a lot in these kinds of stressful "pet parent" situations. When I consented to the procedure, I felt confident she was in excellent hands. *I was also told the pricing range from low to high end before I consented, there no surprises at all* When I came to get my kitten post procedure, I was provided clear next steps to properly take care of her at home. It is now the day after Doctor Cook did the procedure on Heather. She is doing great, and zero sarcasm, her initially muddled "meow" she had ever since I first adopted her already sounds more clear! Thank you EVERYONE ar VERG. From the bottom of my heart, you all did an excellent job every time I had to come to your facility, and I will always recommend you!

I've had a really great experience bringing my cat here. We were referred during an emergency – her kidney values were high and she wasn't eating well. VERG handled her intake quickly, got her started on fluids, and she was looking better right away. She had to stay for a few nights and they provided daily updates via phone call. They also provided daily financial updates via email, which was really helpful. We've been back for follow-ups and all the staff is great. Dr. Trainer and Dr. Pavlova were especially attentive, and so great about explaining things.
