How to Save Money at Northside Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
After living in NY for 2 years and trying two different vets, we have finally found the one that fit with our holistic, natural and vegan approach we want to our little one. We chose Dr. Barbara Eisner, and she totally understood our approach. She didn't wanna sell us anything and even she was aligned with us about over vaccinating and homemade vegan diet, also she preferred to make titers first instead of vaccinating our dog. So, we finally went out of the vet happy for the first time since we live here. We'll come back for sure, totally recommended!

I recently had to put my cat to sleep due to health issues that had reached a point of no return. I made the extremely hard decision to put him to sleep. While they were empathetic about taking him home to take a day to decide; I was shocked by the totally crass and unprofessional sales tactics they forced upon me at my most vulnerable to upsell me on cremation options. While the cat was still alive, they handed me a laminated sheet of options that had no pricing listed. They made me feel like I could not put him to sleep without paying for everything (understandable) including the cremation (predatory). I felt forced to pay for cremation with no clue how much it even cost. The empathy they offered before was gone. I had to decide so I could be charged. The possibility of time was not an option. After going for checkups for years I was appalled at how I was treated. If I get another pet I will not be going back!

We love Northside! They've taken care of our cat Lewis since he was a kitten and always treat him with love and care, even when he's being cranky! All of the employees clearly love animals so much and go above and beyond to make their patients and families feel great.

I wish I found Dr Eisner sooner. She bought me some time with my dog and I may have had even more if I found her earlier. If your dog has cancer I highly recommend seeing her. My dog, Princess Leia, has a fibrosarcoma in her face. This cancer is practically impossible to get rid of but also unlikely to metastasize- the tumor just eventually gets so big it impedes your quality of life and they have to be put down. After her surgery and radiation the tumor grew back faster than we had hoped. The tumor broke the skin on her face but wasn’t impeding anything and she still acted like herself so we wanted some options to keep her comfortable and to try to close up the skin to protect from infection. When we asked her oncologist what to do he offered nothing. Said just to feed her her favorite foods and enjoy the time we had while we had it. When I was at a holistic pet store getting her CBD refill, an employee recommended Dr Eisner. She gave us options for things to put on her skin and it did finally scab over. She gave us herbs that can shrink tumors but warned her tumor was so large it may not work or at best might slow it down. Weeks later her tumor has not grown a millimeter. She also helped come up with a diet for Leia that would not feed her cancer. All for an extremely reasonable price. Leia is eating on her own without coercion and chasing squirrels again. I thought Leia had days left when I brought her in and was just hoping to keep her slightly more comfortable. Now she may have weeks or even months. If we were on these herbs right after her surgery we may have had even more time with her. I wish I found her sooner but I’m glad I found her when I did.

I've been taking my dog here since we got her, and I can't say enough good things about Northside Vet. Their staff is super friendly, genuinely cares about the pets that are brought in, and is very responsive via email and phone. It's a great feeling knowing that our dog will continue to receive such great care from such great people
